Chino Reem Finds a Lucky Double, Then Busts

Niveau 21 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante
Chino Rheem
Chino Rheem

Chino Rheem made another huge fold on the {3-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{9-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} board. There was about 500,000 in the pot and Rheem checked to Mark Reilly who bet 400,000. Rheem was agonised, but eventually folded, calling ace-three in Reilly's hand. Reilly indeed showed {A-Clubs}{3-Clubs}.

Rheem, however, doubled in the following minutes. He needed some help from the skies to beat Roussos Koliakoudakis, who had {A-}{A-}{X-}{X-} while Rheem held {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{3-Spades}. The board ran {7-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{8-Spades} and Rheem shouted: "Yes, two pair, eights and threes!" Koliakoudakis had to pay Rheem a full 193,000.

But Rheem didn't enjoy his double long. He was gone literally the next minute, running into aces again. This time, Reilly found the goods and nothing came to Rheem's rescue. His {K-}{K-}{X-}{X-} remained second, and the start-of-day chip leader departed in 15th Place for $15,531.

Meanwhile, Jeff Madsen was eliminated on another table, taking the same price as Rheem after busting in 16th place.

Schleicher Doubles Through Fonseca

Niveau 21 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

Button Gerhard Schleicher bet pot on the {8-Spades}{6-Spades}{7-Diamonds} flop and Alberto Fonseca min-raised from the small blind. William Kakon, sitting in the big blind, didn't like what he saw. He thought for a bit but eventually folded. Schleicher called off for 154,000 total.

Schleicher: {10-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{K-Spades}{3-Clubs}
Fonseca: {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{A-Spades}{4-Spades}

Schleicher dodged all Fonseca's outs on the {Q-Clubs} and {4-Hearts} runout and scored a double.

Orlando Romero Eliminated in 17th Place ($15,531)

Niveau 21 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante
Orlando Romero
Orlando Romero

With about 25,000 chips already in the middle and the board reading {9-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades}, action checked around to Rudolph Sawa on the button and he bet 23,000. James St. Hilaire called from the small blind and Orlando Romero check-raised to 133,000 from the cutoff. Sawa called and St. Hilaire folded.

The turn brought the {7-Hearts} and Romero moved all in. Sawa quickly called and the two players tabled their hands.

Romero: {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}{10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
Sawa: {10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}

Sawa was way ahead with the nut straight Romero needed help from the deck in order to survive. The {J-Hearts} river changed nothing and Sawa took the pot to send Romero to the cage.

Roberto Romanello Eliminated in 18th Place ($15,531)

Niveau 21 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante
Roberto Romanello
Roberto Romanello

Three-way to the {2-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{J-Spades} flop, James St Hilaire and Roberto Romanello checked from the blinds. Rudolph Sawa bet out 40,000 from the button and St Hilaire called.

Romanello, however, woke up with a check-raise, announcing, "raise pot." He had less than that, playing 142,000. While Sawa escaped quickly, St Hilaire called to put Romanello at risk.

Romanello: {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Hearts}
St Hilaire: {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Spades}

Romanello had the top set and was in good shape for a double, but the {K-Diamonds} turn flipped a switch. "I like that," St Hilaire said.

Suddenly, Romanello could only hope for the remaining jack in the pack, and that never arrived as the {3-Clubs} river sealed Romanello's fate.

Chino Rheem: {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}
Louie Calvo: {A-}{K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

Rheem had the preflop advantage with his aces and the board ran out {9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{6-Spades}{7-Spades}{5-Clubs} to give Rheem the double-up with two pair, aces and sevens.

Rheem Loses Another

Niveau 21 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

Twenty minutes into the final day, Chino Rheem has already lost about half of his stack.

Aleksei Altshuller was the latest player to wound him, facing Rheem's bet of what looked to be 225,000 on the river. The board was {10-}{9-}{8-}{7-}{6-} and Altshuller called.

Rheem opened his {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{X-}{X-} and knew his top pair wouldn't be good. Altshuller turned up his {A-}{10-}{9-}{3-} and the dealer announced tens and nines. Altshuller quickly reminded her about having straight, but two pair would have been enough to win the pot, too.

Altshuller is now closing on one million in chips while Rheem is now playing about a half of that.

Rheem Makes a Fine Fold

Niveau 21 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

Two big stacks just tangled on Table 701. With 636,000 in the pot, big blind Louie Calvo potted the turn with the board reading {10-Spades}{8-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}.

Chino Rheem was on the button, facing a tough decision. Calvo was de facto all in, leaving himself only about 40,000 behind. Rheem counted his chips, contemplated for a bit, but then decided for folding.

Calvo showed {Q-Diamonds}{9-Spades} for the nut-straight, and Rheem replied "Top set. Top set."

Brad Ruben Takes from Jeff Madsen

Niveau 21 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

With about 85,000 chips already in the pot and the board reading {7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}, Jeff Madsen bet 53,000 from the small blind and Brad Ruben called from the button.

The turn brought the {5-Spades} and Madsen checked. After a few moments of thought, Ruben moved all in for 194,000, sending Madsen into the tank. After over a minute of contemplation, Madsen folded, and Ruben took the chips.

Sawa Stacks Trujillo

Niveau 21 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

Michael Trujillo got the last of his short stack in from the button against Rudolph Sawa in the small blind.

Michael Trujillo: {A-}{Q-}{10-}{5-}
Rudolph Sawa: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{J-Spades}

The board ran out {A-Spades}{8-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and Sawa took the pot with a pair of aces and king-kicker to eliminate Trujillo in 19th place.
