Après Mohsin Charania, c'est au tour d'Harrison Gimbel d'entrer dans le club des joueurs qui détiennent au moins un titre WPT - EPT et WSOP.

L'Américain de 26 ans a remporté l'Event #68: 3,000$ No-Limit Hold’em après un Jour 3 de 14 heures, dans la nuit de samedi à dimanche. Gimbel était revenu en avant dernier position à 37 left, il aussi remporté un 30-70 à tapis préflop en demi-finale pour se propulser vers le chiplead et dépasser Chance Kornuth. En tête depuis deux jours, ce dernier a finalement échoué à la deuxième place pour un gain de 399 132$. La deuxième breloque attendra.

Gimbel remporte donc 645,922$ et remporte son premier bracelet WSOP, 91 mois après son succès au PCA 2010. Après sa victoire au Venetian plus tôt cet été, il dépasse désormais les 4,6 millions de dollars gains en live.

"C'était une journée montagnes russes. J'ai du être chipleader et tomber à 4 blindes 12 fois durant ce tournoi. C'est vraiment super de gagner, c'est la première aux World Series, je suis heureux. Chance est un joueur énorme, le head's up a été très rapide je ne m'attendais pas du tout à cela", a indiqué le champion qui réalise à l'occasion son 19e cash sur les WSOP.

Après avoir trouvé les {a-}{a-} dès le début de journée pour se relancer, Gimbel a enchaîné en passant {k-}{j-} contre {a-}{10-} chez Matt Salsberg. L'Américain a surtout fait une quinte de l'espace avec un 4-bet all-in {a-}{8-} bien payé par Jia Liu qui s'incline donc avec {a-}{q-} en main.

L'ultime duel a duré 7 mains. Gimbel a doublé sur la 3e main pour revenir à hauteur avant de trouver les {q-}{q-}. Avec une ante de moins que son adversaire, Kornuth engage ses jetons avec {10-}{10-}... preuve s'il en est que l'étoile de Gimbel n'a pas fini de briller...

Ryan Laplante (32e - 15,806), Daniel Negreanu (29e - 15,806$), Nanos (15e - 29,878$) et Salsberg (13e - 29,878$) étaient donc au Jour 3 d'un tournoi dont 203 joueurs sont repartis avec de l'argent.

Kornuth takes home $399,132 while Harrison Gimbel becomes a new WSOP champion, banking $645,922 and a shiny, new gold bracelet.
