Kevin Calenzo Eliminated in 84th Place ($72,514)

Niveau 27 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Kevin Calenzo
Kevin Calenzo

With the player in the big blind absent, Michael Sklenicka limped from late position and Kevin Calenzo completed in the small blind. They saw a flop of {Q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Spades} and Calenzo checked. Sklenicka bet 175,000 and Calenzo moved all in for his remaining 980,000. Sklenicka quickly called and cards were revealed.

Calenzo: {10-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Sklenicka: {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs}

Sklenicka's pair of queens was ahead, but Calenzo had a double-gutshot-straight draw. He needed a seven or a jack to keep his Main Event run alive. The turn was the {A-Hearts} and the {8-Diamonds} came on the river. Calenzo was eliminated and the cameras followed him as he made his way to the payout desk early here on Day 6.

Greenblatt Nearly Avoids Disaster; Guay Gets Value With Aces

Niveau 27 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Alexander Greenblatt opened with a raise to 175,000 from under the gun. Action folded around to David Guay who reraised, making it 480,000 from the hijack seat. Action folded back to Greenblatt and he just flatted, bringing the two players to a flop.

On the {2-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop, Greenblatt checked over to Guay who put out a bet of 350,000. Greenblatt called.

The turn was the {6-Diamonds} and Greenblatt checked once more. Guay fired again, this time for 975,000. Greenblatt called after thinking for about a minute. On the {Q-Clubs} river, Greenblatt checked for a third time. Guay thought for a while, then decided to check back.

Greenblatt turned up {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} for a pair of jacks, but Guay was holding {A-Spades}{A-Hearts} for a better pair, and he was able to take down the big pot.

Turner Doubles Through Sklenicka

Niveau 27 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

In a battle of the blinds, Daniel Turner moved all in from the small blind for his final 1.2 million. Michael Sklenicka looked at his hole cards, then quickly called.

Turner: {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Sklenicka: {A-Spades}{6-Clubs}

While the table waited for the camera crews to come over, players started taking sides on which hand would win. "The ten-eight has to win. It's just too pretty, right?" Scott Stewart joked.

Sure enough, the dealer put out a flop of {J-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{7-Spades}, giving Turner the flopped straight, and leaving Sklenicka drawing to runner-runner for a chop. The {9-Diamonds} on the turn sealed the double for Turner, who is up to 2.5 million after that fortunate flop.

Renato Prado Valentim Eliminated in 83rd Place ($72,514)

Niveau 27 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Renato Prado Valentim
Renato Prado Valentim

Wen Zhou raised to 160,000 and Joseph Dipascale called from one seat over. Renato Prado Valentim three-bet to what appeared to be 750,000, and Zhou moved all in, which forced a fold from Dipascale. Valentim, however, called it off and was the player at risk.

Renato Prado Valentim: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}
Wen Zhou: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}

Valentim was well ahead, but only until the flop fell {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades}. Zhou tapped the table as he improved to a set of eights while Valentim picked up some more outs with a flush draw on the {9-Hearts} turn. The blank {10-Clubs} river completed the board and Valentim had to settle for 83rd place and a payday of $72,514.

Table 719: Hegele Extends Lead Quickly

Niveau 27 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

In the first few hands of play, Dario Sammartino dropped about 800,000 and Robin Hegele has picked up that amount.

Sammartino folded to a couple of three-bets and tried to limp the small blind against Hegele. Hegele raised and Sammartino folded.

Sammartino opened the button to 170,000 and Hegele shoved all in with Arash Ghaneian behind. Both Ghaneian and Sammartino folded.

Then Hegele played a hand with Connor Drinan. The board read {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and Drinan bet 200,000. Hegele called.

The river was the {k-Clubs} and Drinan bet 350,000. Hegele raised to 1,250,000 and Drinan folded, showing the {4-Diamonds}.

Goldberg Doubles Through Silver

Niveau 27 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Paul Vas Nunes opened the action to 180,000. Max Silver called and Gregory Goldberg took a peek down at his cards and then moved all in for 1,400,000. Nunes folded and Silver called and didn't look to happy about it.

Gregory Goldberg: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Max Silver: {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

The flop was {10-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{a-Clubs} and the action board game Silver two pair and Goldberg a set. The turn was the {6-Spades} changing nothing and the river was the {9-Spades} sending the pot and double up over to Goldberg who is off to a great start on the day.

Nahum Shows Aces

Niveau 27 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Kfir Nahum raised to 200,000 from under the gun and was called by Cosmin Joldis and Zu Zhou on the button. The flop fell {K-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and Nahum continued for 500,000. Joldis called before Zhou raised to 1,350,000. Nahum almost immediately moved all in and that forced a fold from Joldis.

Zhou asked for a count and Nahum was all in for 3,780,000 and Zhou reluctantly folded. "Want to see them?" Nahum asked, and without getting any reply, flashed {A-Hearts}{A-Spades} for everyone to see.

Johns Ships Twice

Niveau 27 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

After a cutoff open to 185,000 by Zu Zhou, Ian Johns shoved all in from the button for 1,105,000. Zhou folded after about a minute of thought.

Right after that, Cosmin Joldis opened under the gun for 180,000 under the gun and received a call from John Hesp. Johns called as well and it went three ways to {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{3-Clubs}. Joldis checked, Hesp bet 300,000, and Johns shoved all in. After shutting off noisy phone calls twice, Hesp announced a fold.
