Ils ont joué presque 64 heures de poker pour composter leur ticket pour le Jour 7 du Main Event des World Series Of Poker 2017 ! Valentin Messina, Benjamin Pollak, Antoine Saout et Alexandre Reard... Quatre Français sont encore en lice alors qu'il ne reste plus que 27 rescapés sur les 7221 joueurs en lice au départ.
Tous assurés de prendre un minimum de 263.532$, les trois mousquetaires français rêvent de capter une plus importante partie du prizepool de 67,8 millions de dollars. Ils reviendront lundi à partir de 21 heures pour tenter de se hisser en finale du tournoi principal des WSOP.
Le Jour 6 avait commencé avec 6 tricolores encore en course pour le premier prix de 8,1 million de dollars, Sébastien Comel (79e) et Nicolas Cardyn (74e) ont plutôt vite rendu les armes pour 85 482$. Ce duo n'est plus dans le coup tout comme Joshua Horton (28e et dernier sortant de la journée), le Canadien déguisé en Superman Jonathan Dwek (38e), Dario Sammartino (43e), Max Silver (45e), le chipleader du Jour 2C Artan Dedusha (52e), Wesley Pantling (53e), Connor Drinan (56e), Kenny Hallaert (64e), Ian Johns (73e), Matthias De Meulder (78e), Martin Finger (80e) et Ihar Soika (81e).
Avec 28,5 millions, Valentin Messina est en deuxième position du classement provisoire, juste derrière celui qui avait remporté un WSOP en Deuce To Seven en ayant appris les règles après s'être inscrit par erreur en juin 2015 : Christian Pham (31,4 millions). Pham était à une carte de la sortie lors du Jour 5... il a aussi fait deux quintes flush au Jour 6 !
De son côté, Valentin a multiplié les bonnes décisions et les bonnes rencontres pour occuper une place de choix à l'entame du sprint final.
Les trois autres survivants français sont 15e, 17e et 18e du chipcount provisoire. Antoine Saout possède 9,9 contre 8,8 à Benjamin Pollak et 8,5 à Alexandre Reard qui a beaucoup swingué lors du Day 6. Ces trois joueurs auront donc plus de 30 blindes à la reprise, de quoi pouvoir encore jouer sur des niveaux de deux heures.
"Aujourd'hui c'était une journée très dure. Je suis tombé à 4,6 millions mais je termine à mon pic donc c'est super. [...] C'est très excitant (d'être là avec trois compatriotes), nous avons tous des jetons. Cela va être un grand jour demain (dans la nuit de lundi à mardi). j'espère que nous serons au moins deux en TF, trois ou même quatre en finale", a indiqué Saout qui a rappelé qu'en 2009, quand il avait terminé 3e, Ludovic Lacay (16e) et François Balmigere (25e) avaient aussi deep-run.
L'étau se resserre puisque Michael Ruane, finaliste de l'édition 2016, a lui emballé 9,3 millions de jetons. Une paille par rapport à celui qui s'est aussi déjà hissé en finale du Main Event (3e en 2011), son compatriote Ben Lamb qui a lui ensaché 25,6 millions pour se positionner à merveille avant le Jour 7.
Le chipleader du Jour 1B Richard Dubini (14,9 millions), celui du Jour 5 Robin Hegele (11 millions) ou celui du Jour 4 Damian Salas (7,8 millions) n'ont pas dit leur dernier mot. Jake Bazeley (3,9 millions) et le Hollandais Volant Marcel Luske (2,99 millions) auront moins de marge de manoeuvre mais personne n'est à l'abri de connaître le rush d'une vie.
Le Britannique Jack Sinclair n'avait que 2 millions et 28 blindes en début de Jour 6, il a terminé à 27,5 millions, de quoi se hisser en troisième position provisoire d'une compétition à suivre en direct sur PokerNews.
La partie reprend avec 78 minutes à jouer sur le Niveau 32 et les blindes 120,000-240,000 (40000).
