L'ambassadeur partypoker Joni Jouhkimainen a perdu pour la deuxième fois de la semaine en head's up, le Finlandais devra encore patienter avant de gagner sa première breloque...
Jouhkimainen s'est incliné sur l'ultime marche face à l'Ukrainien Andriy Lyubovetskiy, intenable en fin de finale pour remporter son premier sacre WSOP et un premier prix de plus d'un demi-million d'euros.
Andriy Lyubovetskiy a dominé un field de 72 joueurs et une table finale où l'on retrouvait Martin Kabrhel et Ole Schemion. Impliqué dans le 8-Game en parrallèle, l'Allemand a vite sauté alors que le Tchèque débutait la finale avec le chiplead. Kabrhel a terminé sa quête d'une troisième breloque au pied du podium pour un peu mins de 160 000€...
Jouhkimainen lui se console avec 320 415€, le deuxième plus gros gain de sa riche carrière...

"Je ne réalise pas ce qui vient de se passer", a indiqué un vainqueur choqué après son head's up. "Ce que je peux dire c'est que j'avais ce rêve depuis 12 ans et ma découverte du poker", a ajouté l'Ukrainien, privé de WSOP à Las Vegas pour des histoires de visa.
Pour sa seconde finale aux WSOP Europe, Andriy Lyubovetskiy a chaleureusement remercié les trois femmes de sa vie (sa mère, sa petite amie et sa soeur, ndlr) avant de se féliciter lui-même. "Je crois que j'ai joué mon meilleur poker, je suis tellement heureux je n'ai pas vraiment les mots", a-t-il conclu.
L'Ukrainien a doublé sur la deuxième main de la finale et c'est donc Thomer Pidun qui a quitté la scène en premier.
Tom-Aksel Bedell a lui doublé deux fois avant que ne prenne les commandes en éliminant Ole Schemion. Le Finlandais a raise-fold contre Martin Kabrhel, le Tchèque se replacant alors devant.
Lyubovetskiy a alors passé la seconde en éliminant le Suisse Didier Rabl puis en prenant la presque totalité des jetons de l'Américain Jordan Westmorland. Ce dernier a doublé trois fois... mais la quatrième tentative a été celle de trop !
Désormais bien installé en tête, Lyubovetskiy s'est chargé de Kabrhel avant que Jouhkimainen ne recolle un peu en provoquant le head's up en éliminant Bedell. L'Ukrainien avait une belle avance et il l'a augmentée dès l'entame du duel... avant que le Finlandais ne double pour s'emparer à son tour des commandes.
La bagarre a alors été très intense, chaque joueur prenant l'ascendant avant de le rendre à la main suivante. L'Ukrainien a repris le momentum grâce à un hero-call, les deux joueurs avaient raté leur couleur mais une paire frappée rivière a permis à Lyubovetskiy de faire un trou définitif. Jouhkimainen ne s'en relèvera pas... et le premier bracelet attendra !
