Schwartz Gets Foxen to Fold

Niveau 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Noah Schwartz
Noah Schwartz

Alex Foxen opened to 3,500 in middle position and saw a flop against Noah Schwartz on the button and the big blind.

The flop came {4-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and Foxen bet 3,500 when checked to. Both players called. The turn brought the {q-Diamonds} and the big blind and Foxen both checked, while Schwartz fired a bet of 12,000. Only Foxen called.

Foxen checked again on the {8-Diamonds} river and Schwartz put out a stack of chips to put Foxen all-in for around 20,000.

Foxen shuffled his chips and studied the board as Schwartz ordered a drink and told the table a story involving his ex-wife, another man and the hood of his car.

"I need to work on my speech play," Schwartz told Foxen. "If you hate money, call."

"What about if I'm pretty indifferent?" replied Foxen.

Foxen eventually folded and told Schwartz he laid down ace-king. Schwartz showed him the {4-Diamonds} and told him it was a good fold.

Quads Over Quads for Dicarlo

Niveau 7 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Sal Dicarlo
Sal Dicarlo

Sal Dicarlo got his 11,700 chips in preflop and was up against two other players.

Sal Dicarlo: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Opponent: {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}
Opponent: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

The board ran out {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{4-Clubs}, and although one opponent made quad jacks, Dicarlo's quad kings took the main pot, while the other player took the side pot to stay alive as a consolation prize.

"Made quads and broke even," someone at the table noted to the winner of the side pot.

Schwartz Coolers Deeb

Niveau 3 : 200/400, 400 ante

Jake Schwartz opened to 1,000 in middle position and Shaun Deeb three-bet to 3,300 as the player next to act. The action folded back to Schwartz, who called.

Schwartz checked on the flop of {4-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and Deeb bet 3,000. Schwartz called. Schwartz checked again on the {a-Clubs} turn and Deeb bet 6,500. Schwartz responded by re-raising all-in for around 27,000 and Deeb snap-called.

Jake Schwartz: {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}
Shaun Deeb: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}

Deeb had a set of aces but it was no good against the flush of Schwartz. The board didn't pair as the river bricked off and Schwartz secured the double-up, while Deeb was left with crumbs.

Prop Bet Ousts Toomas on First Hand

Niveau 1 : 100/200, 200 ante
Elvis Toomas
Elvis Toomas

Elvis Toomas knew what he was going to do in the first hand of the Main Event before the cards were even dealt. Toomas recently lost a last-longer prop bet with girlfriend Christina Gollins, which meant he had to move all-in blind in the first hand.

The action folded to Toomas on the button, who kept his word and promptly pushed his stack of 40,000 chips in the middle for a 200x raise. It only took a few seconds for Kristopher Templeman in the small blind to follow suit and commit his full stack to the middle, while the big blind folded.

Elvis Toomas: {j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}
Kristopher Templeman: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}

It was bad news for Toomas as his jack-eight had run smack into the cowboys of Templeman. The flop of {4-Spades}{9-Hearts}{5-Spades} did not help Toomas and the runout of {4-Hearts}{3-Hearts} sealed his fate as the first player out on Day 1b.

Gollins, meanwhile, is playing a tighter style and sits a few tables away from where her other half busted.

PokerNews was there to capture the hand on video:
