We're back here at Casino Barcelona for Day 3 of the 2016 PokerStars.es European Poker Tour Barcelona Main Event and ready for another huge day of action. With plenty of former EPT champions still in the hunt for their second win in this €5,300 entry Main Event, plenty of big names from around the world are searching for that elusive first victory, today will see the field dramatically reduced now that we're in the money.
Day 2 began as a race to the money, but with the bubble bursting less than an hour before the end of play, the push for a final table stack has only just got underway. At the end of a thrilling day's poker, Nicolas Chouity (pictured) was top of the chip-counts with 294 players remaining. Chouity bagged up 559,000, but he's just a strong three-bet ahead of Austria's Adem Marjanovic (542,500) and Uri Reichenstein (518,000).
Plenty of other big names will be chasing down the leaders, with IPT7 Malta champion Georgios Zisimopoulos (462,000), Martin Kabrhel (458,500), Alin Grasu (437,000); Gleb Tremzin (428,000), and Diego Zeiter (383,500) all heavily stacked.
Team PokerStars still have plenty of their roster looking to hit a home run. Team Online's Mikhail Shalamov (377,500) leads their team in terms of chips, but Jake Cody (284,500) and Jason Mercier (266,500), both former EPT Main Event winners, may represent their likeliest victor at this stage. PokerStars Pro Felipe Ramos (63,000) hung in the action doggedly and will be dangerous as ever. Other former champions litter the remaining 294 players, such as Harrison Gimbel (216,500), Kent Lundmark (179,000), Ognyan Dimov (173,500), Michael Eiler (167,500), Mike McDonald (124,000), Ronny Kaiser (99,600), Dimitar Danchev (80,000) and Davidi Kitai (57,000).
We'll see five levels in the Main Event, with blinds now lasting 90 minutes before they escalate. Here are all the levels that will be played today:
