Hoivold Loses Blind Battle

Niveau 4 : 150/300, 50 ante

It was folded to Andreas Hoivold in the small blind and he raised it up to 800. Qualifier Pawel Brzeski made the call.

The flop was {5-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} and Hoivold bet another 800. Brzeski called again. The turn was the {10-Hearts} and Hoivold check-called a 2,300-bet.

The {K-Hearts} came on the river and Hoivold checked a second time. Brzeski didn't slow down and fired another 6,500. Hoivold called but quickly mucked when Brzeski showed him {J-Spades}{10-Spades} for a full house.

Another Scalp for Dohler

Niveau 4 : 150/300, 50 ante

Bastian Dohler had a really good start of this tournament. He was up to 70,000 early on but hasn't gained much chips in the last couple of levels.

Actually, he even lost a bit of his stack but just got most of it back when busted Lijo Lander.

Lander was all in for around 8,000 and Dohler made the call. His {j-}{j-} held against Lander's {a-}{k-} and the Spaniard was sent to the rail.

Katchalov Busts Staples and Kabbani

Niveau 4 : 150/300, 50 ante
Eugene Katchalov
Eugene Katchalov

The colleagues of the PokerStars blog ran into a pretty big hand that saw the departure of Jaime Staples and Adel Kabbani.

Staples raised to 700 from under the gun and four opponents called including Eugene Katchalov. Then, Adel Kabbai jammed his last 5,250 in the big blind and Staples just called. It folded to Katchalov, who eventually raised to 26,000 to give Staples only the choice to fold or go all in for little more. Staples decided for the latter after some consideration and committed his last 29,750 to createa three-way showdown.

Kabbani: {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Staples: {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}
Katchalov: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}

There was no help on the board {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}{2-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{9-Spades} and Katchalov knocked out both opponents to skyrocket his stack.

Aissani Doubles

Niveau 4 : 150/300, 50 ante

With the blinds only at 150-300 and a running ante of 50, it was a massive four-bet shove by Mohamed Aissani for 17,500. Table neighbor Erik Sense had the right senses and called with {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} only to see Aissani improve, holding {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades}, after the board ran out {K-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{6-Clubs}.

Three Further EPT Champions on Board

Niveau 4 : 150/300, 50 ante

Benny Spindler, Jean Montury and Sebastian Malec are now all playing on Day 1b. Malec, who won the first Main Event in Season 13 at Barcelona, got involved into a small pot and bet the {A-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{3-Spades} turn for 2,000 out of the big blind. His sole opponent called, then faced another bet worth 4,800 on the {8-Spades} river.

That was enough to force a fold and Malec raked in the pot.

Two for Aloev

Niveau 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

In the first hand, Asker Aloev raised to 525 and picked up two callers including Bejjani Kamal. Russell Thomas then three-bet to 2,350 on the button and folded to Aloev's four-bet to 6,250.

One hand later, Aloev opened to 400 and received two callers. Artem Otroshchenko in the big blind made it 1,700 to go and Aloev called, as did Petar Petrov. On the {8-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds} flop, Otrohchenko bet 3,500 and just Aloev called. On the {2-Spades} turn, Ostroshchenko checked and Aloev took down the pot with a bet of 3,550.

Aloev already won two side events at the EPT13 Malta festival and is set for another deep run.

Fast Scoops One

Niveau 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

On the three-way turn reading {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{8-Spades}, Alexander Ivarsson checked to Jean-Louis Cyr and the Canadian bet 1,700. Dietrich fast called and Ivarsson folded. On the {4-Clubs} river, Cyr checked, and Fast bet 15,000 into a pot of around 10,000.

That was enough to push Cyr out of the hand, who mucked the {A-Diamonds} face up.

Panka on the Clock

Niveau 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Dominik Panka has a long way to go, to do better than his third please here in Malta in EPT Season 11.

It was Miroslav Forman who just put the pressure on Panka. Forman bet 5,100 in a 16,000-pot when the board completed {J-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}.

Panka went in the tank and eventually the clock was called on him. Some of the floor staff came rushing over to table 3 but Panka folded before they were there.
