Hasson Gets the Folds

Niveau 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

The player in the under-the-gun position raised to 3,400 and was called by Arthur Conan (mid-position), Gary Hasson (cutoff), and the player in the big blind.

They all checked through the {a-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} on the flop to the {9-Hearts} on the turn. Everyone quickly check-folded when Hasson bet 7,800 for Hasson to pick up the pot.

Boivin Back At It

Niveau 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Thomas Boivin won the EPT Prague €25,000 Single-Day High Roller for €375,520 last night and was one of the players to enter the Main Event just before Day 2 started. Boivin is off to a pretty good start already.

Takao Shimizu raised to 3,500 from the hijack which both Boivin, in the cutoff, and Mark Buckley, in the big blind, called.

The flop came {6-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}, both Buckley and Shimizu checked. Boivin looked at the board and then his own stack before deciding to bet 2,000. Shimizu was the only one to make the call.

The turn was the {q-Diamonds}, Shimizu now check-folded to Boivin's continuation-bet of 4,700.

Eliminations at a Rapid Pace

Niveau 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Just 392 players remain where 440 started the day. Amongst those to fall, are the following recognizable players:

The Magical Deuce of Diamonds

Niveau 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

We got there on the turn in a pot between Jose Gonzalez (big blind) and Nathan Gozlan (under the gun) with the board reading {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}.

Gonzalez checked and the dealer burned and put the {2-Diamonds} out on the river. But, Gozlan hadn't announced his action just yet and didn't seem intent on checking. He, in fact, wanted to bet.

The floor was called and ruled that the river card would be put back in the deck if Zaragoza was to call.

Gonzalez did call and the floor got the {2-Diamonds} and put it back in the deck. He scrambled all the cards, shuffled them, cut them twice, shuffled them again, cut them again, and did one last shuffle, cut, and burn before saying "You know how many times it happens, that the same card comes back?"

Well, wouldn't you know it, the {2-Diamonds} indeed fell on the river again!

The players couldn't believe it, and some jaws dropped.

Gonzalez checked and Gozland bet 6,600. Gonzalez called and saw he lost to Gozlan's {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}.

Budima Doubles Through Fjer

Niveau 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Amar Hadzic raised to 3,500 from the hijack and was called by Souhayl Fjer in the cutoff. Valon Budima shoved for 18,800 in the small blind, Hadzic folded after a few seconds and Fjer called.

Valon Budima: {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Souhayl Fjer: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

The board ran out {j-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{6-Spades} for Budima to hit two pair, in the end, to double up.

Liperis Makes Wongwichit Fold

Niveau 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Phachara Wongwichit raised to 3,500 from mid-position and was called by Yiannis Liperis in the big blind.

The flop came {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{a-Spades}, Liperis check-called the 3,100 continuation-bet of Wongwichit.

They both checked through the {4-Diamonds} on the turn to see the {7-Clubs} complete the board on the river. Liperis took over the initiative by betting 4,200 and Wongwichit folded almost immediately.

Bendinelli Doubles Through Feenstra

Niveau 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Rens Feenstra just told us of a hand where he lost half of his stack early on.

The action folded to Giuliano Bendinelli in the small blind and he shoved all in. Big blind Rens Feenstra called with {Q-}{10-}and was well ahead of Bendinelli's {Q-}{7-}.

Unfortunately for Feenstra, and fortunately for Bendinelli, a seven hit the board. The two switched positions, with Bendinelli now double the stack of Feenstra.

Dobson Shoves on Vieira

Niveau 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Ben Dobson was sitting in the hijack and had the all-in button in front of him. Joao Vieira had 15,400 in front of him on the button and was sitting in the tank after Dobson had shoved. Vieira contemplated for a while, going through his options in his head, but in the end, Vieira opted to fold.

Evard Eliminated by Ercan

Niveau 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Olgun Ercan raised to 4,000 from under the gun and Francois Evard shoved from mid-position for 23,800 in total. Action folded back to Ercan who asked for a count and Evard confirmed the amount. Ercan took a few seconds and then made the call.

Francois Evard: {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}
Olgun Ercan: {a-Spades}{9-Clubs}

The flop came {j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{10-Hearts} for Ercan to flop an open-ended straight draw.

The turn was the {4-Hearts} which was good for Evard as he stayed ahead but the {7-Clubs} on the river gave Ercan the straight indeed to eliminate Evard from the Main Event.
