Caron Doubles Through Romero

Niveau 24 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

James Romero raised to 60,000 from the cutoff and Mario Melis called on the button. Bruno Caron three-bet shoved 590,000 from the big blind, Romero reshoved after a minute of thought and Melis quickly folded.

Bruno Caron: {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
James Romero: {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}

The board fell {10-Clubs}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs}{k-Spades}{9-Spades} to give Caron the winner, which he accepted with a wide smile.

Levi Eliminated by Romero

Shahar Levi
Shahar Levi

"I am not playing for pay jumps," Shahar Levi said while his {k-}{6-} were already in the muck. Levi had jammed out of the small blind and was called by James Romero in the big blind with {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}. The board of {10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{8-Spades} ensured that ace-queen high was good enough to award the pot to Romero and send Levi out in 27th place.

Enselme Not Folding Kings

Niveau 24 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

There was already action brewing between Arnaud Enselme and Sam Higgs, where the latter had likely check-raised the {6-Clubs}{4-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop to bump the pot to over 600,000. Both players then checked the {4-Diamonds} on the turn.

On the {6-Hearts} river, Higgs tried it again with a bet of 310,000 but Enselme wasn't going anywhere with {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}. Higgs showed a whiffed {8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and had to fork some of his piles over across the table.

Kurdin's Stack Melts Away

Niveau 24 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Jacquelyn Scott
Jacquelyn Scott

In a three-bet pot to the {k-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop, Vasily Kurdin bet out of the big blind for 200,000 and Jacquelyn Scott moved all in. Kurdin studied Scott for some time, who was staring down towards the middle of the table with her hands near the face, trying not to give away anything. Eventually, the Russian tossed in a single chip for the call to create the following showdown:

Vasily Kurdin: {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Jacquelyn Scott: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

Except for a joker in the deck, no card could help Kurdin and the {9-Diamonds} turn and {j-Spades} river were a mere formality. Both stacks were very close and Scott had 1,625,000, Kurdin had 10,000 fewer chips and was eliminated in 28th place.

Schienagel Eliminates Castaignon

Remi Castaignon
Remi Castaignon

On a {4-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{3-Spades} board, Remi Castaignon checked, Dennis Schienagel bet, Castaignon check-raised all in for close to 600,000 and Schienagel instantly flung in a calling chip.

Remi Castaignon: {10-Hearts}{2-Hearts}
Dennis Schienagel: {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

Castaignon, who topped the leaderboard just hours ago, needed to hit a ten or deuce if he was to survive. The river was the {k-Hearts} instead and Castaignon was gone in 29th.

Ribouchon's Stack Cut In Half

Niveau 24 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Mario Melis ended up all in for 15 big blinds with {a-Spades}{10-Spades} and Florian Ribouchon had him at risk with the {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}.

The {q-Spades}{8-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop was bad news for Ribouchon, while the {2-Diamonds} on the turn changed nothing just yet. Instead of a spade, it was the {10-Diamonds} on the river that did the damage and cut Ribouchon's stack into half.

Bussieres and Carteau Chip Up

Niveau 24 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Jonathan Bussieres in the hijack and Marco Monello on the button headed to the {k-Spades}{4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop and checked. On the {a-Spades} turn, Bussieres check-raised from 60,000 to 180,000 and Monello came along to see the {2-Diamonds} on the river.

Bussieres now bet 450,000 and Monello called, but mucked when he was shown the {q-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for trips fours by Bussieres.

Yota Mitsui has also lost another big pot, as he paid off Baptiste Carteau for 510,000 on the {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{10-Spades} river. Carteau, who led after Day 1a, rolled over {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} for the nut straight and dragged in a very healthy pot.

Brutal River for Heinsdorf

Niveau 24 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

With action folded around to him, Sylvain Mazza simply open-shoved from the small blind. Tobias Heinsdorf had 405,000 left and wasted no time calling it off in the big blind.

Sylvain Mazza: {q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}
Tobias Heinsdorf: {a-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}

The {a-Spades}{9-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} flop paired up both players and kept the German in the lead. The {3-Hearts} on the turn was safe to him but the {9-Spades} on the river gave Mazza the winner with trips. Heinsdorf let an expletive slip before making his way to the payout desk.

Romero Flips Well Against Pu

Weiran Pu

Weiran Pu got his last six big blinds, 180,000 in total, in and he was called by James Romero from one seat over.

Weiran Pu: {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}
James Romero: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}

Romero immediately improved to a pair of aces on the {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop, and the {3-Spades} turn and {2-Spades} river were blanks to see Pu depart in 31st place.

A Tale of Two Ace-Tens

Niveau 24 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Artur Martirosian
Artur Martirosian

Ole Schemion raised to 50,000 in middle position, Sam Higgs three-bet to 130,000 from the cutoff, Artur Martirosian four-bet shoved 400,000 on the button, Schemion folded, and Higgs quickly called.

Artur Martirosian: {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Sam Higgs: {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

The board ran out {j-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} and Martirosian doubled up.

Another ace-ten was in the mix at the adjacent table, this time the {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts} of Sergey Frizyak who had reshoved for about 400,000 as well after Shachar Haran had opened. The latter called with {4-Hearts}{4-Spades} and held up on a {9-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} board to make Friyzak the 32nd place finisher.
