Higgs Sinks Another One

Niveau 23 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Josep Maria Galindo Lopez
Josep Maria Galindo Lopez

Sam Higgs's pre-dinner onslaught shows no signs of stopping after the meal break as the Aussie threw yet another one under the bus. It was Higgs that had raised to 60,000 in late position, followed by a small blind three-bet shove for 845,000 from Josep Maria Galindo Lopez.

Higgs asked for a count but called soon enough to create the following showdown.

Josep Maria Galindo Lopez: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Sam Higgs: {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}

It was all Higgs on a {5-Spades}{3-Spades}{7-Spades}{10-Clubs}{8-Spades} board to move him up just shy of the 5M mark and further from the pack.

Benny Glaser Shares What Makes EPT Monte Carlo a Favorite Poker Stop

Niveau 23 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Benny Glaser
Benny Glaser

Much better known for his non-Hold’em mixed game prowess, Benny Glaser has been showing lately that he’s also comfortable with his no-limit hold’em game. The U.K. poker pro recently finished second in the Unibet Irish Poker Open €2k high roller, an event he won in November, and also cashed 21st in the €1,150 Main Event there.

Here at the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo®Casino European Poker Tour, Glaser is playing more no-limit hold'em tournaments, today finishing 45th out of 1,425 entries in the €1,100 French National Championship. In his final hand, he got his remaining stack in with ace-king suited but couldn't find help versus James Romero's pocket jacks, settling for a modest cash of €3,950.

PokerNews talked with Glaser during a break of the tournament to get his thoughts on the event and the festival. Despite the rather high expenses required to stay in Monte Carlo, there's plenty that keeps Glaser coming back to this particular stop...

Cakmak Wins a Big Flip

Niveau 23 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Sergey Baburin saw his stack reduced to just 10,000 as his {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} ended second-best to the {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} of Emrah Cakmak on a board of {a-Hearts}{9-Spades}{5-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{9-Hearts}.

In the meanwhile, Sam Higgs added more chips to his growing stack when he check-shoved into a bet of 125,000 by Sylvain Mazza and a call by Igor Tregoubov on the {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop.

Toma Outflops Avdagic, Soars Sky-High

Niveau 23 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Tsugumari Toma
Tsugumari Toma

In a cutoff versus button situation, Tsugunari Toma called a three-bet from Enes Avdagic. The flop came down {a-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} and Toma checked. Avdagic bet 170,000, Toma check-raised to 470,000, Avdagic shoved all in for 1,055,000 and Toma put a stack of chips in with a loud thump, indicating a call.

Enes Avdagic: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Tsugunari Toma: {a-Clubs}{2-Clubs}

Toma held top and bottom pair against Avdagic' top pair top kicker and was in great shape to knock his opponent out. The {6-Clubs} turn and {2-Diamonds} river improved Toma further to a boat and he raised both his fists in celebration.

Caron Not Gone Yet

Niveau 23 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Bruno Caron
Bruno Caron

Bruno Caron got his final 365,000 in the middle holding {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} but was up against the {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} of Dennis Schienagel. Caron already got up from the table and walked away, but came rushing back after his neighbor yelled he caught a piece of the {6-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop.

Caron quickly sat back down to watch the {10-Diamonds} and {8-Spades} land on turn and river to double up.

Volkmann Loses It All

Niveau 23 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

In a coin flip for essentially his entire stack, Bruno Volkmann saw his hopes of an even deeper run vanish when he doubled table neighbor Nathan Gozlan.

Gozlan had won a flip with {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} versus {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}, hitting a set on the {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{a-Spades} board. Volkmann had 50,000 remaining and those vanished shortly after to send the Brazilian out in 41st place.

Meyer Vanishes as Scott Soars

Niveau 23 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

"What just happened?" James Romero said while Jacquelyn Scott dragged in a big pot, having sent Romain Meyer to the rail. The cards of Meyer were already in the muck and Scott had the winning hand in {k-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for top pair on the {k-Spades}{7-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} board.

Scott had defended her big blind and check-called a bet of 80,000 on the flop. The turn was checked and Meyer jammed for way more than the pot on the river with {q-}{10-}.

Niveau 23 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Shortly after coming back from the break, Giuliano Bendinelli jammed with {9-Spades}{8-Spades} into the {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} of Dennis Schienagel and found no help on the {q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{9-Hearts} board.
