Big Paydays Ahead on Final Day of €50,000 Super High Roller

Jules Dickerson
Jules Dickerson

It will be a sprint to the money Tuesday as just two eliminations are needed to burst the bubble and pay the final nine of the returning 11 players in the PokerStars European Poker Tour Paris €50,000 Super High Roller.

A huge prizepool of €3,198,720 awaited the players on Monday, but despite nine levels of play, they couldn’t quite squeak their way into the money, setting the stage for Tuesday’s dramatic finish.

When the players return to the Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile at 12:30 p.m., high-stakes cash game player Jules Dickerson will be the man to catch, coming in with 3,790,000 chips, good for 76 big blinds, while at the bottom of the field, Day 1 chip leader Timothy Adams is currently on the outside looking in with 535,000 chips and 11 big blinds.

Portugal’s Pedro Marques (640,000 – 13 big blinds) and Adams’ Canadian countryman Sam Greenwood (700,000 – 14 big blinds), are the only other two players starting the day under 20 big blinds as they try to claw their way toward at least a €92,800 min-cash.

Once the money is reached, the race toward the largest cut of the prizepool begins, with €959,520 awaiting the winner.

* Final nine places are in the money

The players will begin the day with Level 18 at blinds of 25,000/50,000 with a 50,000 big blind ante. Levels will remain 60 minutes in length, though once the field is reduced to five or four players, levels could be reduced to 45 minutes, and if a deal is agreed to by players at any point, the clock would be reduced to 30 minutes.

Once the field is thinned to the final table of nine, the players will be redrawn to new seating assignments.

Timothy Adams
Timothy Adams

Timothy Adams raised to 100,000 in late position and was three-bet to 235,000 by Thomas Muehloecker in the small blind. Adams then moved all in for just over 700,000 and Muehloecker called.

Timothy Adams: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Thomas Muehloecker: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}

The board came {4-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{q-Spades} as the miracle king didn't come for Adams who leaves the tournament on the bubble, with the final nine players now in the money.

O'Dwyer's Quads Double Through Dickerson

Steve O'Dwyer
Steve O'Dwyer

Steve O'Dwyer raised to 100,000 in middle position and was called by Jules Dickerson in the big blind.

On the {k-Clubs}{10-Spades}{q-Spades} flop, Dickerson check-called a bet of 175,000 from O'Dwyer and a big pot was already brewing.

The turn was the {10-Hearts} and Dickerson checked again. This time, O'Dwyer patted the table as well.

On the {3-Clubs} river, after a bit of thought, Dickerson moved all in for O'Dwyer's final 840,000 and the EPT legend snap-called.

Dickerson tabled {j-Spades}{9-Diamonds} for a flopped king-high straight, but O'Dwyer showed {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for quad tens to double up and finally slow Dickerson's early momentum.

Thomas Muehloecker

In another major clash in the blinds, Thomas Muehloecker got his last 735,000 chips in the middle from the big blind versus Pedro Marques in the small blind.

Thomas Muehloecker: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Pedro Marques: {k-Clubs}{10-Spades}

Muehloecker had his chips in dominant, but after the {10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop his status in the tournament was in jeopardy.

The {q-Clubs} on the turn brought him a Broadway draw, but the {10-Diamonds} on the river sealed his fate, earning the first six-figure payout of the day.

Marques Doubles, Leaving O'Dwyer on Fumes

Niveau 20 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Pedro Marques
Pedro Marques

Pedro Marques raised to 160,000 on the button and was called by Steve O'Dwyer in the small blind.

The players checked the {q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{j-Spades} flop, but on the {8-Diamonds} turn, O'Dwyer bet 240,000.

Marques called and the stage was set for an eventful river.

The dealer dropped the {k-Hearts} on the table and O'Dwyer bet 170,000. Marques raised to 1,300,000, leaving himself 80,000 behind.

O'Dwyer went into the tank, using four time banks before choosing to call.

Marques showed {q-Spades}{q-Clubs} for a flopped full house to win the huge pot and leave O'Dwyer with crumbs.

O'Dwyer would need to win a race to survive and was ahead still after the {10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop, but the {q-Spades} on the turn put him into dire straights, with the {10-Hearts} river unable to save him.
