The $10,000 Single-Day High Roller Begins Today

Welcome back to PokerNews' coverage of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. Today marks the final day of the series and while action is still going strong in the $10,300 Main Event and the $25,000 High Roller another event will not only kick off, but finish today as well. The $10,000 Single-Day High Roller is sure to bring out some of the biggest names and brightest stars in poker.

Last year, this event was held as a turbo six-max. The tournament brought out a total of 49 players, creating a prizepool of $475,300. It was Ben Tollerene who bested Chance Kornuth heads up to take down the $149,000 first place prize and the trophy. A new champion will be crowned today in the final event of the series, which should be similar to that one.

Players will begin with a whopping 100,000 chips and action will be eight handed. Blinds will start off at 500/1,000 with an ante of 100. The tournament will also have a 30-second shot clock, much like the other high roller events of this series, so players will have to make their moves quick. Each player will also be given three time bank chips which are worth an extra minute of thinking time.

Action is set to kick off at 1 p.m. local time. and PokerNews will be covering this event from start to finish so make sure to stay tuned for all the upcoming action.

Davies Bets Small

Niveau 1 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Seth Davies opened the hijack for 2,200 and his neighbor Timothy Adams called from the cutoff. It was heads-up to the flop as Davies check-called a bet of 2,000 on {A-Hearts}{10-Spades}{7-Diamonds}. The {8-Clubs} on the turn was checked through and Davies bet 1,000 on the {2-Hearts} river. Adams reluctantly called but mucked upon being shown {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}.

Katz Shoves the First Hand

Niveau 1 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

"I've got a lot of pent of nittyness," Cary Katz said as he sat down at his table. "Or maybe I got it all out already."

He opened from under the gun with a raise to 2,000. Steve O'Dwyer called next to act before Matthias Eibinger raised to 7,000 from middle position. Action folded back to Katz and he called, as did O'Dwyer.

The flop came down {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and action checked around to see the {K-Clubs} on the turn. Action checked to Eibinger and he put out a bet of 9,200. Katz then grabbed the majority of his stack and pushed it forward. Eibinger quickly folded, so Katz took down the pot.

Immediately after, Katz was moved to another table.

Small Pot to Loosli

Niveau 2 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Morris Kadylo limped in from the hijack for 1,200 and big blind Sylvain Loosli checked. Loosli bet out 1,500 on {2-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and Kadylo called. The {K-Spades} hit the turn and Loosli checked. Kadylo bet 1,700 and Loosli called.

The {8-Clubs} completed the board and Loosli checked. Kadylo checked behind instantly with {A-Spades}{9-Hearts} but the pot went to Loosli who tabled {5-Clubs}{10-Clubs}.
