Adams Makes Second Straight Final Table to Start Poker Masters

Niveau 17 : 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Brandon Adams
Brandon Adams

Brandon Adams took the chip lead into the final table of Event #1 of 2018 Poker Masters at PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas but did not get the result he wanted as he fell to victim to David Peters' final table dominance.

After Day 1 of Event #2: $25,000 No-Limit Hold'em, Adams has put himself back in position for another crack at a win, making the final table once again, this time in second place as the field of 50 was whittled to six.

Adams wrapped up the day with 1,260,000 trailing chip leader Jared Jaffee and his 2,100,000. Superstar Daniel Negreanu will also be present when the PokerGO stream fires up at noon local time on Sunday. Here's a look at the full lineup:

4Jason KoonUnited States755,000
5Bill KleinUnited States470,000
6Brandon AdamsUnited States1,260,000

Adams can tie or take the lead in the race for the Poker Masters Purple Jacket with a third-place finish or better on Sunday. A win would give him a second Poker Masters victory to go with his win in a $50K event last year for $819,000.

Things didn't look great for Adams heading into the final table after he paid off Jaffee's full house in a huge pot just before they combined seven-handed. However, Adams doubled through Jaffee when he got his stack in there in a beautiful spot with aces on the turn on a seven-high board with three hearts. Jaffee had only two outs with pocket eights as neither had a heart and Adams scored a big double.

Right after that, Jason Koon busted Dominik Nitsche to signal bagging time. The only player besides Nitsche to bust in the money was Cary Katz in eighth.

Jaffee looked like the no-doubt chip leader for most of the latter stages of the night as he peaked past 3 million, with about half of the chips in play seven-handed. However, the field has closed the gap on him considerably as three players could now double through and surpass him.

The remaining six players return at 15,000/25,000/25,000 with everyone having locked up $75,000 and looking to score the $400,000 for first place. As that final table is playing down or wrapping up, players coming back for the next event will get a change of game as it's time for $25,000 Pot-Limit Omaha.

Tune in to PokerGO for the Event #2 final table and then hit up PokerNews for four-card play-by-play.

Dominik Nitsche Eliminated in 7th Place ($62,500)

Dominik Nitsche
Dominik Nitsche

Jason Koon opened for 55,000 in the cutoff and Dominik Nitsche got a count of Koon's stack then shoved all in for slightly less, about 320,000, in the big blind. Koon immediately called.

Koon: {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Nitsche: {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

The {k-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{k-Hearts} added some chopping outs for Nitsche but the {10-Hearts} gave Koon a flush draw to block some. The river was a {j-Spades}, and Nitsche slid his chips in and bowed out in seventh. That leaves the remaining players to bag up and call it a night.

Adams Doubles Through Jaffee

Niveau 17 : 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Brandon Adams opened to 70,000 from under the gun, and Jared Jaffee called on the button, as did Bill Klein in the big blind.

The flop landed {4-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and after Klein checked, Adams bet 120,000. Jaffee called, and Klein folded as the {J-Diamonds} rolled off on the turn.

Adams announced he was all in for 380,000, and after using a time extension chip, Jaffee called.

Jaffee: {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Adams: {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}

The river landed the {K-Clubs}, and Adams doubled through to over 1.2 million as Jaffee took a dive down to 2.1 million.

Negreanu Over Jaffee

Niveau 17 : 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Jared Jaffee opened for 60,000 under the gun and got called by Brandon Adams on the button and big blind Daniel Negreanu. Jaffee fired 90,000 after the {k-Hearts}{10-Spades}{9-Spades} flop and Negreanu stuck around. "Kid Poker" check-called 185,000 on the {7-Clubs} and the river was a {3-Clubs}. Negreanu checked and Jaffee verbalized a check back about 10 seconds later.

Negreanu showed {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} and took it down.

Adams Gives Then Takes

Niveau 16 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Brandon Adams paid off Jared Jaffee on a straight but then got that money back and more in the next pot when Jake Schindler opened for 40,000 and Jason Koon called on the button, with Adams tagging along from the big blind.

On the {9-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{8-Clubs}, action checked to Koon and he bet 40,000. Adams called and Schindler mucked. On the {3-Spades} turn, Koon bet 115,000 and Adams stuck around again. Both checked the {2-Diamonds}, and Adams showed {q-Clubs}{10-Hearts} to take it down.

Jaffee vs. Negreanu

Niveau 16 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Jared Jaffee raised to 45,000 from middle position and Daniel Negreanu called in the big blind.

The flop landed {4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and Negreanu checked to Jaffee who bet 45,000. Negreanu called, and when the turn fell the {6-Diamonds}, he led out for 55,000.

Jaffee called, and then both players checked the {9-Clubs} on the river.

Negreanu tabled his {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}, but it would be Jaffee's {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} that would earn him the pot.
