Let's Kick It Up at the Poker Masters with Event #6: $50,000 No-Limit Hold'em

Welcome to the ARIA Resort & Casino, and the 2018 Poker Masters for Event #6: $50,000 No-Limit Hold'em.

Friday saw the kick-off of the 2018 Poker Masters live from the PokerGO Studio and Event #1 would see David Peters emerge victorious over the 69-player field to capture the $193,200 first prize. Event #2 took place on Saturday, and Brandon Adams defeated the 50-player field to take home the $400,000 first prize. Sunday saw the game change to Pot-Limit Omaha, and it would be Keith Lehr defeating the 37-player field to capture the $333,000 first prize. Monday saw the game switch again with Event #4: $10,000 Short Deck Poker taking center stage and it would be Isaac Haxton capturing the $176,000 first prize after he defeated the 55-player field.

The fifth event on the schedule saw a return to No-Limit Hold'em, and with it saw 66 players take a seat. In three consecutive hands, David Sands would be left with just one chip, then Justin Bonomo would be eliminated, before Sands would then bubble in 11th place. Dan Smith (10th), Bryn Kenney (9th), and Dan Shak (8th) all fell before the unofficial final table, and on the first hand of the redraw, Elio Fox (7th) would be dealt a cooler by making a runner-runner nut flush only to be shown the flopped full house of Jake Schindler when all the money went in on the river. Consequently, Schindler would hold a strong chip lead over Ben Yu and Ali Imsirovic, while Brian Rast and Jason Koon would sit with just under average chips as Daniel Negreanu rounded out the final table as the short stack with just seven big blinds. Day 2 final table action will be live streamed on PokerGO, while updates will be provided right here on PokerNews once play begins at 12 p.m. (PDT).

Unlike the inaugural running of the Poker Masters where the Purple Jacket was decided using total earnings, the 2018 Poker Masters will use the High Roller of the Year scoring system to award the coveted Poker Masters Purple Jacket. Greenberg Doubles Through Fox with Quads

Niveau 2 : 500/1,000, 1,500 ante
Larry Greenberg
Larry Greenberg

Justin Ligeri, Elio Fox, and Larry Greenberg committed 4,500 each preflop to see a {7-Spades}{5-Clubs}{A-Spades} flop.

Ligeri checked, Fox bet 5,500 in the hijack, and Greenberg called in the cutoff as Ligeri folded.

The turn fell the {7-Hearts} and Fox bet 21,000. Greenberg was forced to use a time extension chip before calling as the {K-Clubs} completed the board on the river.

Fox shoved all in for roughly 140,000, and Greenberg snapped him off for his last 68,000.

Fox tabled his {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} for aces-up, but it would be Greenberg's {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} for quads that would earn him the double.

Shak Eliminated by Negreanu

Niveau 4 : 1,000/1,500, 2,000 ante
Dan Shak
Dan Shak

Seth Davies raised to 3,500 from under the gun and Daniel Negreanu called on the button. From the small blind, Dan Shak three-bet to 16,000 and Davies mucked as Negreanu called.

The flop landed {8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and Shak continued for 20,000 with Negreanu making the call as the turn fell the {6-Spades}.

Shak announced he was all in for 120,000, and Negreanu snap-called having Shak covered.

Shak: {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}
Negreanu: {9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

Shak was drawing dead with his overpair against Negreanu's straight, and after the meaningless {8-Hearts} completed the board on the river, Shak headed to the sidelines.

Brian Green
Brian Green

On a completed board of {2-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}, big blind David Peters bet 60,000. Seth Davies announced 136,500 and put in all but one T500 chip. Brian Green was on the button and wasn't much concerned about the big action as he put in his stack of 104,500.

Peters went deep into the tank, using two time extensions before releasing his cards.

Green: {2-Clubs}{2-Spades}
Davies: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}

Davies had binked a better full house on the river and he took Green's stack and the huge pot.

Seth Davies raised to 11,000 from under the gun and Brandon Adams called next to act in the cutoff. From the button, Dan Smith three-bet to 44,000 and Davies folded as Adams called.

The flop landed {A-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and Adams checked to Smith who bet 28,000. Adams used a time extension chip and then check-raised to 90,000 total.

Smith called, and then both players checked down the {8-Clubs} and {6-Diamonds} on the turn and river.

Adams tabled his {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}, but it would be Smith's {J-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} that would ensure him of scooping the pot.
