Le Jour 1A du PokerStars Championship Panama à 5000$ l'entrée a rassemblé 103 joueurs et 43 ont franchi l'obstacle. Igor Yaroshevskyy s'est installé en tête du classement provisoire en emballant 219 600 jetons après 8 niveaux de 75 minutes de poker.
Tito Ortiz a volé la lumière au Russe... et cela pourrait continuer puisque l'ancien champion d'Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) a monté 182 000 jetons dans le même temps. 9e combattant introduit au Hall Of Fame de l'UFC, Ortiz est deuxième du chipcount provisoire.
Parmi les joueurs toujours en lice après le Jour 1A, on retrouve Jason Koon (175,500) en troisième position au chipcount. Steve O'Dwyer (117,000), David Peters (116,100), Ryan Riess (77,300), Byron Kaverman (72,000), Daniel Dvoress (59,800), Sergio Aido (54,200), Team PokerStars Pro Leo Fernandez (41,400), Anthony Zinno (16,800) et enfin le joueur Winamax Davidi Kitai (10,500) seront au Jour 2.
Le nouveau Team Pro PokerStars Igor Kurganov s'est lui enregistré en fin de journée avant de s'empaler dans les d'un adversaire sur l'ultime main de la journée.
