The New Pablo

Niveau 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Adrien Allain
Adrien Allain

After a button open to 4,000, Jason Wheeler three-bet to 11,000 in the small blind. As he had at least one other time that we had seen, Adrien Allain reraised Wheeler, making it 30,000 in the big blind. The opener mucked, and it was back on Wheeler.

"You trying to be the new Pablo?" Wheeler asked.

Allain must have asked what Wheeler meant, as Wheeler clarified.

"The guy I went to the showers earlier," he said, pointing at a now-empty seat. "OK, I'm gonna give you this one. But, I'm gonna start coming back at you."

Big Slick Does the Trick for Arunas Sapitavicius

Niveau 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

We missed the action unfold, but we do know that Lithuania's Arunas Sapitavicius got his stack of 80,000 all in prefop and found himself racing against his opponent.

Sapitavicius: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}
Opponent: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

Sapitavicius needed to improve to stay alive, and while he didn't do it on the {8-Clubs}{2-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop, he did on the {A-Hearts} turn. The {4-Diamonds} river was safe for Sapitavicius and he shipped the double.

Niveau 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Eric Wasylenko
Eric Wasylenko

Eric Wasylenko moved all in from early position for his remaining 21,000 chips.

Action folded around to Jason Wheeler in the big blind and he quickly called.

Wheeler: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Wasylenko: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}

Wasylenko was unable to find one of the two remaining eights in the deck as the board ran out {5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{10-Hearts}{4-Spades}, sending him to the rail.

Everyone Loves a Chopped Pot

Niveau 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

After the player on the button raised to 5,000, Alexandre Viard moved all in for 38,500 from the small blind and Alberto Meran four-bet all in over the top from the big. The original raiser folded and the cards were turned up.

Meran: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Viard: {k-Clubs}{q-Spades}

It was a classic flip, but in this particular hand the proverbial coin would come down neither heads nor tails. Instead, the board ran out {5-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Spades} to put a straight out there. As the PokerStars commentators like to say, "Everyone loves a chopped pot."

Guzman's Aces Hold Strong

Niveau 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
JC Alvarado
JC Alvarado

JC Alvarado had 23,000 in front of him, about half-pot, on a board of {j-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} in the cutoff. A player on the button called, and Jose Moran Guzman was tanking in middle position. He ultimately decided to call. A {2-Clubs} completed the board, and everyone checked.

Guzman rolled over {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}, and nobody could beat it.

Dimitrov Wins a Big One

Niveau 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

A massive pot was brewing in the middle of the tournament room, with about 120,000 in the middle already.

The board read {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{9-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and Lokesh Garg checked from middle position.

Aleks Dimitrov was on the button and paused for a moment before moving all in for his remaining 50,200.

Garg went into the tank and then asked for a confirmation of the amount of the bet. After a moment, Garg called.

Dimitrov tabled {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} for second set and Garg showed {a-Spades}{j-Hearts} before launching his cards into the muck.

Top Set for Anthony Diotte

Niveau 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Anthony Diotte and David Laka Calzada got their chips in the middle before the flop, with Calzada being the player at risk with about 35,000 behind.

Diotte: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Calzada: {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

Calzada had a few outs, but those diminished when the flop came {k-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{5-Hearts}.

The turn was the {9-Diamonds}, leaving Calzada drawing dead to the {5-Spades} on the river.

Dermot Blain Busted

Niveau 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Dermot Blain
Dermot Blain

We missed the elimination of Dermot Blain, but former EPT Prague High Roller champ Kenny Smaron was kid enough to fill us in on some details.

As he told it, a player had raised and Blain three-bet to 18,000 from the small blind.

"I folded deuces," Smaron added.

Anyway, the initial raiser called and then both players checked a {j-}{7-}{2-} flop. When a {K-} appeared on the turn, Blain led out with a bet and his opponent called.

Blain then moved all in on the {2-} river — "I would have made quads," Smaron pointed out — and his opponent called with {10-}{7-}. It was good as Blain was bluffing with his {q-}{10-}.

More Famous Peters Also Hits Rail

Niveau 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
David Peters
David Peters

Tobias Peters is already out, and now the more well-known Peters, David, has followed.

The high rolling Peters shoved about 33,000 in with {a-Hearts}{10-Spades} on a board of {j-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} from the button, and Denis Timofeev snap-called in the cutoff. Timofeev had {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a straight and the {5-Diamonds} river was it for Peters.
