Daniel Ades Doubles During Hand-For-Hand Play

Niveau 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Action folded around to Vincent Allevato on the button who raised to 6,500. The small blind folded, and Daniel Ades moved all in for his remaining 15,000. Allevato called.

Although there are 73 players remaining, hand-for-hand play has been initiated due to excessive tanking at the tables.

The tournament director headed over to Table 1 and the hands were revealed.

Allevato: {k-Clubs}{7-Hearts}
Ades: {q-Spades}{j-Clubs}

The flop came {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}{8-Spades}, and the rail cheered for Ades as Allevato's king was no longer live.

The turn was the {9-Diamonds} and the cheers increased when Ades made his straight, securing the double up. The river was the {q-Clubs} for good measure and Ades went to the rail to celebrate.

A Note on Play

Niveau 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

With 73 remaining the tournament director has chosen to move into hand-for-hand play to mitigate the stalling at some of the tables.

Timofeev Putting the Pressure On

Niveau 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Denis Timofeev and two other players saw a {j-Spades}{4-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop. The aggressive Russian bet 12,000 from the cutoff, and only countryman Mikhail Zamyatin made the call, from the button. Timofeev fired again for 35,000 on the {a-Clubs} turn, and Zamyatin called. On the {6-Diamonds} river, Timofeev put Zamyatin to the test for his remaining 106,500. After a couple of minutes, Zamyatin slid his cards to the dealer.

Caufman Talley Takes a Big Hit

Niveau 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Caufman Talley
Caufman Talley

Caufman Talley opened for 7,500 from the cutoff and Spain's Lucas Blanco reraised him to 18,500 on the button. Both blinds folded and Talley thought long and hard before making it 59,000 to go.

Blanco thought for a bit himself before moving all in for 171,500 and Talley quickly called.

Talley: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Blanco: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}

Blaco had the goods and he held on the {9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} flop. The {10-Spades} turn made things interesting by giving Talley a straight draw, but he missed it when the {10-Clubs} paired the board on the river.

Timofeev, Ortiz Split a Pair

Niveau 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Tito Ortiz called on the button, and Denis Timofeev made it 10,000 to go in the small blind. Ortiz called. The flop came {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}, and Timofeev slowed down with a check. Ortiz bet 5,000 and Timofeev called. Timofeev check-called 10,000 more on the {4-Clubs} turn and 15,000 on the {8-Hearts} river.

Ortiz tabled {k-Spades}{7-Spades} for top two on the flop and took the pot.

Then, Ortiz opened cutoff and called a three-bet to 20,000 from Timofeev on the button. Ortiz checked the {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{8-Spades} flop and then folded to 35,000.

Escobar Sent Back to Colombia

Niveau 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Michael Lech opened for a min-raise in the cutoff and Colombia's Jairo Escobar defended his big blind to see a {9-Spades}{3-Spades}{j-Spades} flop.

Escobar led out for 15,000, Lech called, and the dealer burned and turned the {A-Hearts}.

Escobar moved all in for his last 35,000 or so and Lech snap-called.

Lech: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}
Escobar: {3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}

Escobar had flopped a set, but he needed the board to pair as Lech had flopped the nuts. The dealer burned one last time and put out the {7-Hearts}. Escobar missed and fell in 74th place, just three spots shy of the money.

Engel Doubles Medina Echavarria

Niveau 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Ari Engel
Ari Engel

Ari Engel, himself quite short, opened under the gun for 7,000 with 36,500 behind. Action folded to Sebastian Medina Echavarria in the cutoff and he shoved all in for 17,000. Action folded back to Engel and he went deep into the tank. While several minutes went by, and some all ins and calls were heard, he still thought about his decision. The clock was called and with about 5 seconds left, Engel called.

Sebastian Medina Echavarria: {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}
Ari Engel: {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

The flop came {K-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} but Medina Echavarria wasn't safe just yet as the {2-Diamonds} hit the turn. The river, however, was the {5-Clubs} and Medina Echavarria doubled.

Manuel Martinez Solsona Caught Between a Rock and a Hard Place

Niveau 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Karim Zerzour moved all in for 26,000 from early position and two seats over Manuel Martinez Solsona three-bet all in over the top for 76,500. Allberto Meran Matias, who was next to act, then called, which prompted the rest of the players to fold.

Zerzour: {a-Clubs}{4-Clubs}
Solsona: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Matias: {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}

"The ace-four suited is going to win," Jason Koon said from across the table.

"Don't say that," Matias replied.

As fate would have it, the board ran out {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and the ace-four did in by making a runner-runner flush. Meanwhile, Matias still profited by winning the side pot and eliminating Solsona.

Tito Ortiz
Tito Ortiz

After the previous two pots, Tito Ortiz opened for a raise on the button and Denis Timofeev came out three-betting with 21,000 in the small blind. Ortiz mucked.

The next hand, Ortiz raised to 6,500 after Roman Pavliuk limped early. Timofeev three-bet again, this time 20,000. Pavliuk cold-called, and Ortiz came along to make it three ways to a {2-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}. Action checked to Timofeev, who bet 27,000. Only Ortiz called. The MMA fighter check-called another 22,000 on the {a-Hearts} turn, and both players checked the {a-Diamonds}.

Ortiz opened {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}, and Timofeev sent his cards flying into the muck.

Wheeler Mucks

Niveau 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Jason Wheeler was in the hijack and raised to 7,000. Action folded around to Jessica Perez Borrego in the big blind and she decided to defend.

The flop came {a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and Borrego checked. Wheeler bet 9,000 and Borrego called.

The turn was the {8-Clubs} and both players checked to the river, which was the {a-Diamonds}.

Borrego led out for 12,500 and Wheeler went into the tank. After a moment, he raised to 32,500. Borrego didn't think for long before calling. Wheeler instantly mucked his cards, sending the pot Borrego's way.
