Timofeev chipleader, Abdellatif & Kaverman au Jour 5, Alex Viard 16e

Niveau 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Denis Timofeev

JC Alvarado Eliminated in 13th Place ($20,860)

Niveau 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
JC Alvarado
JC Alvarado

In the last hand of Day 4 at the featured table, JC Alvarado raised to 28,000 from early position and Robin Luca Wozniczek called from the button. Both blinds folded and the flop came down {9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}.

Alvarado checked, Wozniczek bet 31,000, and Alvarado woke up with a check-raise to 90,000. Wozniczek responded by moving all in and Alvarado quickly called off for 359,000 total.

Wozniczek: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Alvarado: {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

It was a virtual coin flip as Wozniczek held an over pair to Alvarado's flush and ace-over draw.

The {2-Clubs} turn tipped the scales in favor of Wozniczek, and he score the elimination after the {4-Clubs} bricked on the river.

Mark Radoja Eliminated in 14th Place ($20,860)

Niveau 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Mark Radoja
Mark Radoja

Igor Yaroshevskyy raised to 25,000 first to act, and action folded to Mark Radoja. He repopped to 67,000 on the button. Small blind Kenny Smaron took some thinking time and then announced he was all in. He covered both Radoja and Yaroshevskyy. The latter folded, but Radoja announced a call right away for about 400,000 total.

Radoja: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Smaron: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

Smaron's kings held up as the board ran out {8-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}.

Arunas Sapitavicius Sent Back to Lithuania

Niveau 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Arunas Sapitavicius (L) & James Salmon (R)
Arunas Sapitavicius (L) & James Salmon (R)

Igor Yaroshevskyy opened for 25,000 from the button and was met by an all-in three-bet to 175,000 from Arunas Sapitavicius in the small blind. James Salmon then called from the big and Yaroshevskyy got out of the way.

Sapitavicius: {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Salmon: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}

Sapitavicius' best chance at surviving was to catch a ten, but it wasn't in the cards as the board ran out a useless {7-Spades}{j-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{3-Hearts} to send him out the door in 17th place for $16,080.

There will now be a short break while the final 16 players redraw down to two tables. When they return, the plan is to play out the remainder of Level 20 before bagging and tagging on Day 4.

Last Woman in the Field Falls in 21st Place

Niveau 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Jessica Perez Borrego
Jessica Perez Borrego

Jessica Perez Borrego has been the last woman remaining in the field for quite some time, but her run just came to an end in 21st place.

In her final hand, Robin Luca Wozniczek raised to 22,000 from the cutoff and Borrego, who was on the button, moved all in for approximately 100,000. The blinds both folded and Wozniczek made a quick call.

Wozniczek: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Borrego: {a-Spades}{6-Spades}

Borrego needed some help, but she was left wanting as the board ran out a lackluster {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{8-Clubs}. Borrego will take home $16,080 for her performance.

Byron Kaverman Eliminates Tito Ortiz By KO

Niveau 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Tito Ortiz
Tito Ortiz

Byron Kaverman opened for 25,000 under the gun. Tito Ortiz moved all in after patiently folding away for the past hour or so. Kaverman quickly called the shove of about 55,000.

Kaverman: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Ortiz: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

The race was on, but Ortiz flopped nothing as {3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{7-Spades} hit the felt. He still needed to pair up after a {k-Spades} turn. Paint arrived on the river, but it was the {j-Clubs}, no help to the famed fighter. Ortiz patted the table with a resounding thud, and Kaverman collected the pot.

Fishhooks Fail to Hold for Talley

Niveau 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Caufman Talley
Caufman Talley

Action folded to Caufman Talley in the small blind and he raised to 54,000, which was more than half his stack. Igor Yaroshevskyy then moved all in from the big and Talley hit the tank, apparently in an effort to let hands finish on the outer tables. He then called off for 107,000 total and it was off to the races.

Talley: {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Yaroshevskyy: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

Talley was looking to hold to score the double, but that proved easier said than done as the {a-Spades}{q-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop paired Yaroshevskyy.

Neither the {Q-Hearts} turn nor {3-Spades} river was the jack Talley needed, and he hit the rail in 24th place for $12,480.

Jonathan Abdellatif opened for 18,000 from the cutoff and was met by an all-in three-bet to 51,000 from Pedro Romanzo Pollino on the button. Both blinds folded and Pollino discovered he was dominated.

Pollino: {a-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}
Abdellatif: {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}

Pollino had a kicker problem and it didn't get resolved as the board ran out {4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{k-Hearts}. Pollino hit the rail in 27th for $12,480.

Koon Runs into the Blades

Niveau 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Jason Koon
Jason Koon

Jason Koon opened on the button for 18,000, and Anthony Diotte put in a three-bet in the big blind. The next time we looked over, Koon was all in and in dire need of help.

Koon: {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}
Diotte: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}

"Anyone fold a five?" Koon asked hopefully.

Nobody responded, and the flop came down {9-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{6-Hearts}. Koon liked the {8-Diamonds} turn, since it gave him outs to a chop, but the river was a {j-Spades}. Koon stared at his opponent's stack to see if he could cover it. Diotte said he had about 450,000 to start, and Koon looked to have around 400,000, so he wished everyone good luck.
