Adams Eliminated

Timothy Adams

Thomas Mercier opened the button for 6,200 and small blind Jean-Jacques Zeitoun called. Big blind Timothy Adams squeezed all in for 57,600 and Mercier tanked long before releasing his cards into the muck.

Now it was Zeitoun with the decision and he tanked for a bit before deciding to call.

Jean-Jacques Zeitoun: {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}
Timothy Adams: {A-Spades}{4-Diamonds}

The flop came {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and Adams asked for a seven. Instead, the {K-Diamonds} hit and Adams now asked for a king. He got neither an no ace would appear either. The {2-Spades} hit and Adams started to gather his things before exiting.

Van Putten Exits

Niveau 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Jasper Meijer Van Putten
Jasper Meijer Van Putten

Jasper Meijer van Putten's bust out slip was handed to PokerNews, and we contacted him to find out what had happened to the defending champion.

Van Putten told us that Tsugunari Toma opened the cutoff with a raise and Boris Kolev, chip leader of the table with 400,000 at the time, called. Meijer van Putten defended his big blind with {10-}{8-} offsuit.

The flop came {10-}{5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} and Meijer van Putten checked. Toma bet the size of half the pot and his neighbor the chip leader raised small. Meijer van Putten shoved for 40,800, 17 big blinds. Toma folded but Kolev wasn't intending on doing the same and called with {6-}{6-} for middle set.

Meijer van Putten hit a {10-} on the turn to remain hopeful but a {J-} on the river didn't help him and the Dutchman exited the tournament area.

Sorrentino Crippled After Doubling Yared

Niveau 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Raffaele Sorrentino
Raffaele Sorrentino

Ghassan Yared was the one to open as he made it 6,000. His neighbor, Raffaele Sorrentino who he had battled with before, three-bet to 17,500. Action folded back to Yared and he called.

Yared checked on {5-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} and called Sorrentino's 15,500 bet.

The {8-Clubs} hit the turn and Yared checked once more. Sorrentino fired 26,500 and Yared moved in for 110,300 total, 83,800 more to Sorrentino.

The 2017 PokerStars Championship Monte-Carlo champion (€466,714/$508,281) and 2017 PokerStars Championship Barcelona 3rd place finisher (€850,110/$999,318) tanked long and hard before he eventually called.

Ghassan Yared: {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}
Raffaele Sorrentino: {A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

Sorrentino needed a diamond but wouldn't get one. Instead, the {9-Clubs} popped up to complete the board and Sorrentino parted ways with the majority of his stack.

Wheeler and Moshe Play Massive Pot

Jason Wheeler
Jason Wheeler

Jason Wheeler was in the big blind and he and cutoff Asi Moshe appeared to put in around 15,000 each preflop. Wheeler bet 17,000 on a {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop and Moshe called. Wheeler checked the {4-Diamonds} turn and Moshe bet 33,500. Wheeler's turn to call, and the river was the {7-Spades}. Both players checked.

Wheeler opened {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts} for top boat and Moshe chuckled and shook his head. He flashed {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a flush on the turn.

"You chase, you're gonna get punished," Wheeler said. "You're lucky I didn't bet river."

After losing almost his entire stack prior to Viliyan Petleshkov, John Juanda moved all in for just 5,300 from early position and Rui Neves Ferreira reraised to 8,600. Out of the big blind, Michel Dattani moved all in and Ferreira asked for a count. Dattani, who started the day as one of the bigger stacks, was all in for 26,000 and Ferreira folded.

John Juanda: {A-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}
Michel Dattani: {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}

The board ran out {K-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{8-Spades}{3-Spades} and Juanda joined the rail mid-way through Day 2 without anything to show for.

Michal Mrakes was all the way down to 80,000 but has since more than doubled his stack again. Gianluca Speranza, Jussi Nevanlinna and Marco Regonaschi are also all up for the day while Sergio Castelluccio just busted.

Regonaschi had opened to 3,400 from early position and Castelluccio shoved for 25,100. Jakutis Povilas in the big blind asked for a count and eventually raised to see Regonaschi quickly dump his {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}.

Sergio Castelluccio: {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}
Jakutis Povilas: {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}

Luo Bests Indahl Twice

Xixiang Luo
Xixiang Luo

On the three-way flop of {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{J-Spades}, Eirik Indahl's bet of 5,200 was called only by Xixiang Luo in the cutoff and the {9-Hearts} fell on the turn. Indahl continued for 16,000 and Luo raised to 38,000, which the Norwegian called. The {J-Diamonds} on the river was eventually checked through and Indahl showed {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} for aces and queens. Luo had that beat with {K-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and won the pot.

Both bashed heads soon after, in the next hand to be exact, and created a pot of 35,000 to the {Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{10-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades} river. Indahl checked to Luo and reluctantly paid off a bet of 30,000 by the Chinese, who rolled over {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for two pair to claim yet another big pot.

Fatima Moreira De Melo
Fatima Moreira De Melo

We found Fatima Moreira de Melo deep in the tank on the button with {2-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} on the felt. Dietrich Fast had put in 45,000 from the small blind with the pot already looking to contain at least 60,000. He had left himself just about 7,500 back. After several minutes of thought, someone called a clock. Shortly after the supervisor arrived, the PokerStars Team Pro splashed in a call.

"Ace-high," Fast said, showing the {a-Diamonds} and holding his other card over the muck.

Moreira de Melo showed {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}.

Konnikova More Than Doubles; Boeree Busts

Niveau 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Liv Boeree
Liv Boeree

Maria Konnikova was all in for her last 13,700 with the {A-Spades}{10-Clubs} and table neighbor Guillaume Pau Davy looked her up with the {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}. The board of {7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{3-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} provided the ace on the turn and Konnikova doubled.

Soon after she raised to 4,000 and Hari Bercovici called out of the big blind. On the {7-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop, Bercovici check-called a bet of 6,000 before both checked the {3-Hearts} turn and {5-Hearts} river. Konnikova turned over {J-Hearts}{J-Spades} to scoop another decent pot and boost her stack significantly.

For Liv Boeree, the day came to an early end, though. The PokerStars Team Pro was spotted leavin her chair while Alex Foxen raked in the pot. According to Foxen he raised and called the three-bet jam for 21 big blinds with aces. Boeree only had pocket sevens and failed to find any help.
