Just 13 players remain in the Triton Super High Roller Series 2017 Montenegro Main Event with Devan Tang losing a huge hand to Malaysia’s Chan Wai Leong to drop down to a paltry 2.5 big blinds.

This found its way into the middle of the table shortly afterward with Tang getting the last of his chips in with jack-ten and while this had worked out well for him in the past it was no match for big blind John Juanda’s mighty jack-six after the latter caught his six to send Tang to the rail in 14th place.

Loeser Wins Three-way, Badziakouski Takes From Yong, Leong Doubles Through Cheng

Niveau 14 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

While Wang Qiang still has the chip lead at present both Manig Loeser and Mikita Badziakouski are catching up. Loeser won a sizable three-way pot against Antonios Paschalidis and Qiang.

Loeser showed down pocket tens which held against the ace-king of Paschalidis on a {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}[x][x] board, with Qiang folding without showdown and Loeser climbed to 1.95 million while Qiang dropped to a little over 2 million and Paschalidis fell to 450,000.

Mikita Badziakouski took a bite out of Richard Yong’s stack after defending his big blind against a Yong mid-position 40,000 open with the flop falling {5-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}.

Badziakouski check called Yong’s 40,000 continuation bet before leading the {4-Diamonds} turn for 110,000, a bet Yong called quickly.

The {3-Hearts} river saw the Belarusian reach for chips once more and he fired out a hefty 140,000 river bet with Yong slamming down the call.

Badziakouski rolled over {6-Spades}{3-Clubs} for the turned gutshot straight to climb to 1.8 million, leaving Yong to shake his head and drop down to 415,000.

Chan Wai Leong managed to net another double up shortly afterward over on the other table, moving all-in from the button for 356,000 over the top of a Tony Cheng 50,000 mid-position open, which Cheng called immediately.

Chan Wai Leong: {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}
Tony Cheng: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

Leong was racing for his tournament life and the flop fell {3-Clubs}{8-Spades}{5-Clubs} and while Cheng picked up some additional flush outs when the {j-Clubs} hit the turn the {q-Diamonds} river saw Leong double once more and he climbed to 720,000 while Cheng dropped to 350,000

Double for Leong, Chan Takes From Behbehani, Behbehani Busts to Tang

Niveau 14 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Salman Behbehani
Salman Behbehani

Play had not long resumed following the break before the short-stacked Chan Wai Leong earned himself a double up at Devan Tang’s expense.

Tang limped from middle position and action folded around to Leong on the button who moved all-in for 220,000. After the blinds got out of the way Tang tossed in the calling chips but was not happy to see that Leong had him dominated and uttered an expletive in Cantonese that Salman Behbehani seemed keen to learn.

Devan Tang: {a-Hearts}{6-Clubs}
Chan Wai Leong: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

Tang was calling for a chop but did not get one when the board ran out {10-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{7-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} to grant Leong a much needed double and he climbed to 450,000 while Tang dropped to 225,000.

Salman Behbehani got a chance to try out his new found linguistic phrase the very next hand against Peter Chan, making it 40,000 from UTG+1 with Chan chosing to defend from the big blind.

Chan checked the {6-Hearts}{8-Spades}{10-Clubs} flop over to Behbehani, who checked it right back and the {3-Diamonds} hit the turn, which brought a bet of 40,000 from Chan.

Behbehani thought it over for a few seconds and made the call and the {2-Diamonds} completed the hand, but not the betting. Chan fired out a bet of 65,000 and Behbehani made a quick call, but could only muck when Chan turned over {a-Spades}{10-Hearts} for top pair. Chan climbed to 1,040,000 after the hand while Behbehani was looking a little short on 225,000.

This found it’s way into the middle shortly afterward when the US player moved all-in with ace-nine and ran into the ace-jack of Tang and the field is now down to 14.

Holz Bust Out Sets Up Last Two Tables

Fedor Holz
Fedor Holz

Su Hao is no longer in the running and departed midway through the level and Fedor Holz will not be adding anymore trophies until his haul this week either, busting at the hands of fellow countryman Dominik Nitsche in what turned out to be an interesting hand.

Pre-flop it was Nitsche who was the aggressor, opening the action with a raise from the cutoff with Holz making the call from the button. We picked up the action on the river but Salman Behbehani was kind enough to fill us in on the details and according to him Holz check-called Nitsche’s continuation bet on a {5-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} flop before seizing the initiative on the the {8-Diamonds} turn and leading for 60,000 when Nitsche checked.

Nitsche made the call and the {9-Clubs} river completed the hand. This is where it got interesting and is where we picked up the action with Nitsche leading out for 130,000 only to see Holz move all in for 327,000 in total.

Nitsche tanked long and hard before making the call and Holz rolled over {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}. While this was no good it was not because Nitsche had an ace, but rather had rivered a set holding {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}. Holz headed for the rail while Nitsche stacked up to over 1 million and play was briefly paused as the third table broke and the players were split between the two remaining tables.

Wang Takes From Patgorski

Niveau 13 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

The Shanghai Wang express is building up steam and is showing no signs of being stopping at the station anytime soon. We caught Wang Qiang in action with the Chinese player making it 33,000 to go from the cutoff and Gabe Patgorski chose to defend his big blind to take the action heads-up to a flop of {q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{8-Spades}.

Patgorski checked the action over to Qiang who continuation bet 55,000 and the US player made a quick call to bring the pair to the {10-Clubs} turn.

That was it for the betting, with Patgorski checking and Qiang checking it right back with the same pattern continuing on the {4-Hearts} river.

Patgorski tabled {a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} and while he had Qiang out-pipped pre-flop the Chinese player had caught a piece with {a-Spades}{8-Hearts} and stacked up to 2,550,000 while Patgorski dropped to 480,000.

Badziakouski Busts Trickett, Cheng Busts Dwan

There have been two more casualties, both from the same table interestingly enough, and the remaining 18 players are just 10 bust outs away from the money.

The United Kingdom’s Sam Trickett was the first to fall at the hands of Mikita Badziakouski and tablemate Steffen Sontheimer was kind enough to fill us in on the details.

“Mikita raised big from the button,’ said Sontheimer, ‘and Sam shoved for 33 big blinds and this fish,’ [points to Badziakouski] ‘had no idea what to do.” Sontheimer joked, giving Badziakouski a friendly needle.

Badziakouski eventually made the call with pocket fives and Trickett had ace-queen and lost the race for his tournament life while Badziakouski stacked up to over 1.65 million.

“Maybe say I had eights,’ Badziakouski quipped, ‘it will look better,” the Belarusian said with a cheeky grin.

Tom Dwan departed shortly afterward after losing a blind on blind battle against Tony Cheng. The US player moved all-in from the small blind with {q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and Cheng made the call with {2-}{2-}, which held to bring Dwan’s Main Event to an end while Cheng stacked up to 680,000.
