Triton Poker Series
Triton Poker Series

Welcome to Day 1 of Event #1: NLH 6-Handed, the first of four tournaments in the Triton Poker Series as the popular event returns to action at the Merit Royal Hotel Casino and Spa in North Cyprus from April 2-7. Notable high rollers from around the world are expected to make the trip to the Island of Love over the next two weeks as Triton joins forces with the Super High Roller Bowl Series to offer 14 events and the $250,000 Super High Roller Bowl. The first event kicks off today at 1 p.m. local time and it will be streamed live on Youtube and Twitch via Triton Poker.

The North Cyprus stop marks the return of Triton Poker with the first event since London in 2019. The series returns after canceling a robust 2020 schedule in the wake of COVID-19, along with two postponed events earlier in 2022 in Bali and Russia.

Christoph Vogelsang raised to 5,000 from under the gun and the action folded to Cary Katz on the button. Katz looked over to Vogelsang to check out his stack and tried to estimate how much he had behind. Katz then decided to three-bet to 30,000. The blinds quickly folded and Vogelsang contemplated his options.

"Ace-king has me beat..." he commented in the end before opting to four-bet jam for around 70,000. Katz snap-called.

Christoph Vogelsang: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Cary Katz: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

The board ran out {k-Spades}{5-Hearts}{8-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} for Katz to flop top pair and improve to trips on the turn to leave Vogelsang drawing dead.

Michael Soyza
Michael Soyza

Rok Gostisa raised to 10,000 from the button and Michael Soyza three-bet to 35,000 from the small blind. The big blind folded and Gostisa tossed in the extra chips to call.

The flop was {9-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{a-Spades} and Soyza checked. Gostisa bet 8,000 and gave Soyza a long look as he called to see {k-Clubs} on the turn.

Soyza checked again and Gostisa bet 10,500. Soyza called and Gostisa gave another look as the river came {8-Diamonds}.

Soyza checked for a third time and Gostisa bet 130,500, leaving 1,000 behind. Soyza used a time bank before he called, and Gostisa mucked his hand.

After some confusion about whether or not Gostisa was allowed to muck was settled, Soyza took the pot without showing his hand. Gostisa did not show and was not obligated to do so, as he was not all in.

Rob Yong
Rob Yong

With a giant pot of around 450,000 in the middle and a full board of {4-Spades}{2-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{10-Spades}, Mikita Badziakouski checked to Rob Yong. Yong shoved his last 525,000 and Mikita went into the tank.

"I could fall for the bluff here," Badziakouski said as he shuffled his chips.

After a few moments of thought, Badziakouski tossed his hand in the muck.

"Show the bluff!" Paul Phua implored from another table.

Yong turned over {a-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} for ace-high and Phua let out a loud laugh.

Badziakouski managed a "Nice bluff," and Yong dragged a big pot to take the lead.
