USPO #2 PLO 10.000$ : Jordan Cristos chipleader, Carry Katz et Manig Loeser en finale

Niveau 20 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Jordan Cristos from the 2018 WSOP
Jordan Cristos from the 2018 WSOP

A total of 64 entrants came out for Event #2: $10,000 PLO at the US Poker Open and play carried on until only six remained at the completion of the day. Finding the chip lead at the end of Day 1 was Jordan Cristos who bagged 2,445,000 chips, almost a million more than his nearest competitor Cary Katz. Cristos is locking up his second cash of the series so far after taking 11th in Event #1: $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em.

Among others at the final table are Adam Hendrix, Martin Zamani, Manig Loeser and Sean Winter. Winter is making his second final table of the series. With a fourth-place finish or better, Winter will take over the points lead for the series, putting him in the prime position to collect the $100,000 prize. A fifth-place finish would tie him with Stephen Chidwick who won Event #1: $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em. This early in the series it's still anyone's game though.

Chidwick was among the entrants in today's event not to cash. Other's who didn't make it into the money include Justin Bonomo, Koray Aldemir, Chance Kornuth, Alex Foxen, Joseph Cheong, Jake Schindler, Justin Young, Ryan Riess, Anthony Zinno, Brandon Adams, and Kristen Bicknell to name a few. Adams was the bubble boy of the event, busting when he flopped top set and a straight draw against Adam Hendrix who held aces and the nut flush draw. The turn was brick, but the river gave Hendrix his flush and sent Adams to the rail in 11th place as the last player to walk away without a payday.

The last few to walk away on Day 1 were Anthony Alberto, Ben Yu, Dan Shak, and Brent Roberts. Roberts came into the final seven as the shortest stack but managed to find a few doubles to keep himself alive. In his final hand, Roberts flopped trips in a limp pot. Action checked around and on the turn, Roberts put in most of his stack. Martin Zamani called and the on the river, Roberts moved all in. Zamani quickly called. Roberts rivered a full house, nines full of deuces, but Zamani had turned a better full house to finish play for the day.

Here's a look at how the final six players stack up:

TableSeatPlayerChip Count
Final1Sean Winter760,000
Final2Manig Loeser1,295,000
Final3Cary Katz1,525,000
Final4Adam Hendrix900,000
Final5Jordan Cristos2,445,000
Final6Matin Zamani1,180,000

Currently, all players left alive are guaranteed at least $38,400 but everyone is fighting for the first place prize of $179,200. Action will kick back off at 1 p.m. local time and the live stream of the event will begin at 2 p.m. local time on PokerGo. Brent Roberts Eliminated in 7th Place ($32,000)

Brent Roberts
Brent Roberts

Cary Katz limped in and Brent Roberts completed in the small blind. Martin Zamani checked his option in the big blind.

The flop was {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{8-Spades} and all three players checked to see the {Q-Clubs} on the turn. There, Roberts led out for 175,000 leaving himself with less than 100,000 behind. Zamani called.

"Thank god you called," Katz said. "If you didn't I might've had to."

Katz then folded and the {2-Spades} came on the river. Roberts moved all in and Zamani quickly called.

"Nine-deuce," Roberts said, announcing his hand. Zamani was holding {Q-Spades}{9-Spades}{J-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} though for a better full house and that would send Roberts to the rail in 7th place.

Play is now finished for the day and a full recap will be available shortly.

The {2-Diamonds} on the turn and {10-Clubs} on the river changed nothing as Hendrix took down the pot, sending Shak out of the tournament.

Six-Card Straight Flush Earns a Double For Yu

Niveau 15 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
2019 US Poker Open
2019 US Poker Open

Ben Yu opened with a raise to 55,000 and Brent Roberts called in the big blind.

The flop was {Q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and Roberts immediately bet out 125,000. Yu thought only for a few seconds then moved all in and Roberts snap called.

Ben Yu: {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{K-Clubs}
Brent Roberts: {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades}

The turn was the {J-Hearts} and Roberts said "Good game," to Yu, thinking he was drawing dead, but what he didn't immediately realize is that Yu made not only a straight flush, he made a six-card straight flush from eight to king. The river was a meaningless {9-Clubs} and Yu would double up.

"My brain did that at first too," Yu said. "I thought I was done."

Wolff Doubles Through Bonomo

Justin Bonomo
Justin Bonomo

Jordan Cristos limped in from the cutoff and Brandon Adams called on the button as well. Justin Bonomo completed from the small blind and George Wolff checked his option in the big blind.

The flop was {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Spades} and action checked to Adams who put out a bet of 25,000. Bonomo called before Wolff potted, making it 160,000. Action folded to Adams who folded as well before Bonomo dropped into the tank. He thought for a bit then moved all in. Wolff called quickly.

Justin Bonomo: {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}
George Wolff: {A-Spades}{7-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades}

Wolff was ahead with the better kicker and he held on through the {5-Spades} turn and the {3-Spades} river. That allowed him to double and left Bonomo sitting on an extremely short stack.

On the {A-Hearts} turn, Winter continued blasting, making it 200,000. Jattin thought for a bit then called.

The river was the {5-Spades} and Winter bet again, making it 200,000. Jattin thought for a few seconds then mucked. Winter flashed his cards across the table and gave a wry smile as he raked in the big pot.

Brent Roberts

Keith Lehr limped in from under the gun before Brent Roberts made it 18,000 on the button. Maxx Coleman called in the small blind. Koray Aldemir then moved all in from the big blind for 76,000. Lehr folded and Roberts then moved all in over the top for about 300,000 with a covering stack on Coleman.

"I have such a pretty hand," Coleman said, using a time extension to think over his decision. Eventually Coleman called, putting himself at risk for about 180,000 and the cards were turned up.

Maxx Coleman: {K-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Koray Aldemir: {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
Brent Roberts: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{3-Hearts}

The board ran out {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{10-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and Roberts queens made a full house to earn him the massive scoop, chipping him up to just under 600,000.
