Holloway Binks a Straight to Double

Niveau 6 : 150/300, 50 ante
Chad Holloway
Chad Holloway

Chad Holloway moved all in from the cutoff for his stack of 2,075. The player on the button called and it was on to a showdown when everyone folded.

Chad Holloway: {8-Clubs}{6-Spades}
Button: {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}

The flop came down {A-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and while Holloway picked up a straight draw, he stood up from his seat, ready to take his leave as his opponent flopped top pair.

The turn was the {K-Hearts}, improving Holloway's opponent further to two pair. The river was the {4-Diamonds}, though, and that completed Holloway's straight, allowing him to double up.

"Are you kidding me?" the player said.

Holloway doubled back to nearly starting stack and now sits with around 4,500.

Mathers Hits the Rail

Niveau 6 : 150/300, 50 ante

Kevin Mathers was seen with his less than 10-big blind stack in the middle holding {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} and was up against the {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} of Noel Edwards.

The flop came {K-}{j-}{j-}, meaning Edwards had outflopped Mathers by pairing his king. The turn and river were of no help to Mathers, and he was sent to the exit doors of the tournament area.

Clanton Drops a Little; Busts Shortly After

Niveau 6 : 150/300, 50 ante
Joshua Clanton
Joshua Clanton

Picking up the action on a flop of {A-Spades}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} with around 1,500 in the pot, Joshua Clanton was first to act from the small blind and he put out a bet of 700. His lone opponent in the big blind called.

The turn was the {J-Spades} and Clanton checked. The player in the big blind decided to bet, making it 2,000. Clanton quickly released, dropping down to around 3,000 chips. The multiple World Series of Poker Circuit ring winner will have to do some work if he hopes to improve on his performance from last year when he came in third place in this event.

Clanton, who was already on his second bullet, was eliminated shortly after.

Broadway for Van Winden

Niveau 5 : 100/200, 25 ante

The board read {q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} and the big blind led out for 700 into a pot of around 1,700. Milko van Winden made the call from early position and the {k-Clubs} completed the board.

The big blind checked this time and van Winden fired in a bet of 2,000. His opponent reluctantly made the call and van Winden tabled {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} for Broadway. His opponent mucked his cards and the PokerNews employee raked in the pot.

Some other notable big stacks breaking away from the field include Johnny Gagelonia and Isaac Hanson.

Dechant Takes Another Hit

Niveau 5 : 100/200, 25 ante

Dieter Dechant opened with a raise to 700 from the cutoff and the player on the button called.

The flop was {9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and Dechant led out with a bet of 2,000. The button quickly called off his last 825 and their cards were turned up.

Dieter Dechant: {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}
Opponent: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}

"You're way ahead," Dechant said before seeing the cards. "Oh! I have two overs."

The board completed with the {K-Hearts} and the {7-Spades} and that earned a double-up for the player on the button while Dechant dropped back to around starting stack.
