River Call Nets Babekov the Pot

Niveau 6 : 150/300, 50 ante

There were two players with cards in front of them on the {6-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{4-Spades} flop. Following an 800 bet, Mark Babekov called and on they went to the turn.

It was the {4-Clubs} and this time both players checked. Finally, the dealer laid out the {4-Hearts}, which made a one-card full house possibility. When facing a much larger sizing of 4,000, Babekov didn't need long to think and threw in the chips.

He turned over {a-Spades}{k-Clubs} and the trips on the board plus his two high cards were good enough to scoop the pot.

With nine WSOP cashes under his belt, one more will put Babekov into double figures. With 37,200 to play with, he is looking in good shape to accomplish that.

Couch Wins One

Niveau 6 : 150/300, 50 ante

The player in early position limped, along with the player from one seat over, the cutoff, and the small blind. Richard Couch, in the big blind, checked.

The dealer spread a flop of {a-Spades}{7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} that was checked through to the {5-Clubs} turn. The small blind checked. Couch bet 700. The player in early position folded. One seat over raised to 1,525. Couch was the only caller.

The river brought the {6-Diamonds}. Both players checked. Couch tabled {a-Clubs}{2-Clubs} to win the pot.

Abraham Araya opened to 500, in middle position. Molly Mossey three-bet to 1,500 from one seat over. Araya four-bet shoved for 5,875. Mossey took a few seconds of reflection, talking to Araya, but proceeded to make the call.

Molly Mossey: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Abraham Araya: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

''We are not in fact flipping'' commented Mossey

''It's a different kind of flip!'' answered one of her tablemates.

Top Pair's Good for Akenhead

Niveau 5 : 100/200, 25 ante
James Akenhead
James Akenhead

Main Event finalist, James Akenhead just added some more chips to his stack.

He defended {q-Spades}{9-Spades} in the big blind versus an open and one call.

The {q-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} flop gave him top pair and he check-called a bet from the initial raiser. The turn brought a {6-Clubs} and Akenhead check-called once more. The river was a brick and, after a third check from Akenhead, his opponent didn't fire for a third time and mucked on seeing the pair of queens.
