Hein Hits a Set of Fours

Niveau 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

By the time we arrived, there was the {5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{9-Clubs} flop spread in the middle and Hans Hein had bet 2,600 from the button. Jackie Glazier check-raised to 8,000 out of the big and a player in a middle position came over the top, check-shoving for 19,000. Hein slid in a huge pile of orange chips to cover Glazier's 70,000 or so and Glazier walked out of the way.

Hein was in great shape, having flopped a set of fours with {4-Spades}{4-Hearts}. The all-in player turned up {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}, hoping to catch an ace or some backdoor draw. The {Q-Spades} turn narrowed his outs to the last two bullets in the deck and the {K-Hearts} river eliminated him from contention. Hein raked in a sizeable pot and improved into 285,000.

Kassela Shown No Respect

Niveau 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Frank Kassela
Frank Kassela

Frank Kassela opened to 2,200 under the gun getting no respect from his tablemates as three of them made the call. On a {4-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} flop, Kassela continued for 3,500, and two of his opponents folded but the player on the button raised all in for about 25,000 and Kassela quickly folded.

Schindler Takes From McCaw

Niveau 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Jake Schindler
Jake Schindler

A player in middle position raised to 2,100 and Jake Schindler called from late position. The big blind, and big stack, David McCaw three-bet to 8,200 and the initial raiser folded but Schindler called to see a flop.

The flop came down {2-Spades}{5-Clubs}{J-Spades} and McCaw continued with a bet of 7,000 and Schindler called again.

The turn was the {Q-Hearts} and this time both players decided to check and see what the river card would be.

The {5-Hearts} came down as the river and McCaw checked to Schindler. Schindler decided to go big and fired out a bet of 28,000. After a short tank, McCaw called and saw Schindler open up {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}. McCaw lost with his {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} that he opened up in frustration.

Joe McKeehen got sent home on one of the other tables. He also lost with nines against ace-queen. The ace-queen managed to hit a flush to send the 2015 WSOP Main Event Champion home.

Ho Builds Stack

Niveau 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

While his fellow countryman Yah Loon Lim had already been eliminated from the same table, Baoqiang Ho had consistently built his stack and just sent the predecessor to the rail that took over Lim's seat.

Ho had raised to 2,300 and picked up two callers. A shove for 25,300 followed and Ho was the only caller to table the {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}. The player at risk held {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} and the board came {5-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} to award the pot to Ho.

MacDonnell Pushes His Opponent Off a Strong Hand

Niveau 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Marc MacDonnell
Marc MacDonnell

The board read {6-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} and it appeared that Marc MacDonnell over-bet the pot from the big blind. He threw in a bet of 10,300 into a pot of around 6,000. His opponent min-raised to 20,600 from the cutoff and the action was back on MacDonnell.

He re-raised to 55,300 which sent his opponent to the tank. His opponent thought for over a minute and stood up from his chair to analyze the board and hopefully make a decision.

"Sorry guys," he said as another couple of minutes had passed. "I have two pair," he announced, surely announcing that he was not willing to continue in the hand any further. He did eventually lay his hand down but begged to know what MacDonnell's holding was. "Did you have a straight?"

"Nope but I had the best hand. Figure it out," MacDonnell responded as he was awarded the pot.

Big Double for Bowyer

Niveau 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

With more than 60,000 already in the middle, Brandon Bowyer got his stack of 62,100 all in and was at risk against an opponent with {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for bottom two pair and the flush draw on the {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Spades} turn. Bowyer held {K-Spades}{Q-Spades} for top two pair and needed to hold to avoid elimination.

He did so thanks to the blank {6-Clubs} river on a table with big stacks Juha Helppi and Matt Waxman.

Hoisington Makes a Set of Fives

Niveau 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

There was about 27,000 in the middle of a pot with a board reading {j-Spades}{2-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{5-Spades} and Trenton Hoisington check-called a bet of 22,000 from Justin Bonomo.

The {q-Spades} fell on the river and both players checked. Hoisington tabled the {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} for a set of fives and Bonomo mucked.
