Scary Moment for Saderne

Niveau 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

There is one section of the Brasilia room that seems to be uncomfortably hot and some players have started to complain about it. Fittingly so, as a scary moment just occurred for Jeremy Saderne from France.

Saderne stood up from his table to stretch in the middle of a hand, and as he did, he got a light-headed and fainted, falling into the table. Chips scattered everywhere and players rushed to his side as he woke up. Security and medical staff were called to the table but Saderne ensured them that he would be OK. The Frenchman was not pulled away from his seat and will continue playing under further examination.

"Nine High Like a Boss"; Kassouf Wins and Shows

Niveau 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

The board was down {2-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{q-Spades}{q-Clubs}, and Will Kassouf was on the button with a 19,500 bet in front of him.

"If you call with ace high, you deserve it. You'll be my hero," Kassouf said to his thinking opponent.

"There's no shame in folding," the Brit added.

Kassouf repeated what he previously said as a minute passed with his opponent still mulling over his decision before the clock was called by another player.

Twenty-five seconds passed, and the tournament director counted down from five to zero. Kassouf's opponent didn't act, and his hand was declared dead.

"Shall I show nine high like a boss?" Kassouf questioned before he tabled the {9-Spades} and swooped the pot.

Horak Folds to a Shove

Niveau 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

In what looked like a three-bet pot preflop, Jiri Horak and his left-hand opponent tangled in a battle of middle positions.

They saw the {10-Spades}{3-Clubs}{7-Clubs} flop and Horak check-called 8,500. Then he checked the {2-Diamonds} turn and his opponent shoved for 31,500 or so. Horak threw his cards away.

"You always come and I lose," Horak said to us with a laugh.

Marquez Stuffs on Schillhabel; Jattin Pushing for Lead

Niveau 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

We found Stefan Schillhabel with a raise to 17,000 in front of him in the small blind, facing a shove from Ana Marquez in middle position for about 75,000. Schillhabel mucked and accepted a fresh beer from the wait staff.

At a nearby table, Farid Jattin appears to be nearing 400,000 and looks likely to be the chip leader in Pavilion at this point.

Smith on the Rise

Niveau 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

John Smith was moved over to the same table as Samantha Abnernathy and was sporting quite a decent stack. He asked Abernathy to take a picture with his mobile phone and was all smiles for the shot. Below are some more updated counts from the Amazon Purple and Orange sections.

Lovgren and Weber Triple Someone Up

Niveau 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Sofia Lövgren
Sofia Lövgren

Sofia Lovgren raised to 2,600 from the under-the-gun position and her left-hand neighbor called. The player on the small blind moved all in when the action folded to him and the total amount was 15,900. Lovgren called, as did the player next to her.

They checked it down on the {5-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{10-Clubs} flop, {8-Hearts} turn, and the {2-Spades} river.

The at-risk player showed {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and let out a little cheer as he saw he was good against the {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds} of Lovgren and the {A-}{Q-} of the third player.

Kelsall's River Check-Raise Gets Paid

Niveau 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Picking up the action on the river, the board was {Q-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{A-Diamonds} and Andrew Kelsall was first to act against one opponent. The player took a second then bet 10,000 into a pot of roughly 30,000. Kelsall then check-raised, making it 60,000, or enough to put his opponent all in.

The player thought it over for a bit, but eventually decided to call. Kelsall then showed his {K-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} for the nut straight and it would earn him the pot.

After the hand, a few players at the table commended Kelsall's ability to get paid with his river check-raises.

"That's all you gotta do," Kelsall said. "You show nine high one time and then you get paid whenever you have it."

Stuart Rutter had 30,000 in front of him from the small blind on {q-Hearts}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}. Craig Trost was tanking in the cutoff and announced a bet of 85,000. Rutter mucked almost right away.

Lau Can't Improve

Niveau 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Alan Lau was in early position, facing off against a player on the button. Lau first checked the {Q-Clubs}{8-Spades}{6-Clubs} flop and saw his rival fire 6,400, then he check-raised to 19,000. The other player was contemplating his decision for a few minutes and someone at the table called the clock. The floor person gave the player 30 seconds and a verbal five-second countdown and he moved all in for 39,700 with three seconds left to act. Lau double-checked his hand and called.

Lau was behind with {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs} versus {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} and the {7-Spades} turn and {3-Hearts} river missed his outs.
