Bonus Day! 11 Players Contest for the Event #22: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em Bracelet

Music supervisor and poker player Scott Vener made the final day
Music supervisor and poker player Scott Vener made the final day

It is a bonus day of action today in Event #22: $1,000 Double Stack No-Limit Hold’em! This inaugural WSOP tournament was scheduled to be completed in two days, but a large field of 3,253 entrants forced the crowning of a champion to be postponed to a Day 3 when play ended last night with 11 players remaining.

Jorden Fox leads the charge of the final 11 who are looking to be the next bracelet winner with the largest stack in the room at 26,150,000 in chips, good enough for 52 big blinds. Following close behind is the only bracelet winner of the remaining field, Jeffrey Smith who took down his first bracelet at the 2014 WSOP in a $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em event.

Southern California will be well represented on Day 3 as Scott Vener of Los Angeles joins Fox and Smith to create a SoCal native dominance of the top three chip counts. While Vener certainly is no slouch at the poker tables, sporting over half a million in lifetime winnings on The Hendon Mob, he's even better known for his off-the-felt activities in the entertainment industry.

Vener was the music supervisor for HBO's hit series Entourage, and other accolades include co-hosting a radio show with Pharrell Williams. Today, a WSOP bracelet could very well be added to that list as Vener will return third in chips.

Eight other players will be challenging the top four for the bracelet as play resumes today at 12 p.m. local time in the Amazon room. All the returning players have locked up a $28,443 payday for 11th and 10th, but the money will really start to skyrocket once play reaches the final table, culminating in a grand prize of $420,693 for first place.

The PokerNews team will once again be present to bring live updates of who makes the final table and will begin hand for hand updates once the final table is determined, all the way down until a bracelet winner is crowned.

Teves {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

The board ran out {6-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{5-Spades} to all but secure it for Teves on the flop and confirm the elimination of Trevino in 10th place as the turn fell.

Hand #47: Jayachandra Gangaiah raised to 2,000,000 from under the gun and Jorden Fox called on the button. Ryan Teves three-bet shoved 7,600,000 from the big blind, Gangaiah shoved as well and Fox folded.

"I folded queen-jack," Fox announced.

Ryan Teves: {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts}
Jayachandra Gangaiah: {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}

The flop came down {10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} to keep Gangaiah in the lead.

"There's my queen-jack," Fox laughed.

The turn was the {5-Hearts}, giving Gangaiah a set but Teves a flush draw.

"Come on baby, heart one time," Teves begged.

The prayers were left unanswered as the {4-Clubs} rolled off on the river, ending his deep run in fifth place.

Hand #68: Jorden Fox raised on the button to 2,800,000. Jeffrey Smith three-bet out of the big blind to 8,000,000. Fox waited a moment before moving all in and was snap called by Smith.

It was bad news for Fox as he was thoroughly dominated.

Fox: {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}
Smith: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}

The flop provided slight hope as it came the {6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{q-Clubs}. The turn completely changed matters as the {q-Diamonds} clinked down to shouts of "Yes!" from Fox and his rail. The {6-Spades} on the river confirmed the huge double up for Fox and turned the chip count balance completely around.
