Day 4 of Event #26: $2,620 No-Limit Hold'em is in the books at the 2019 World Series of Poker. The 1,083-player field had already dwindled down to the final 52 players but after another six 100-minute levels they are down to 16 players. Roman Korenev from Russia is leading the pack with 3,125,000 but he is closely followed by Yicheng Xu (3,045,000) and Dong Sheng Peng (2,930,000) from China. The remaining players are all guaranteed $16,970 but if they survive one more elimination they will be guaranteed $21,208. Of course, all the players are eyeing that top prize of $477,401.

Day 4 Action

The day started with 52 players still in action but it didn't take too long for the first player to exit the tournament. Mario Navarro pushed his last four big blinds to the middle holding ace-seven suited. Paul Hizer had king-queen off-suit and managed to hit a flush to eliminate Navarro. He was the 52nd place finisher and took home $8,075.

Other players that failed to make Day 5 include Joseph Cheong (49th - $8,075), Anatoly Filatov (46th - $8,075), WSOP bracelet winners Ryan Leng (40th - $9,504) and Mohsin Charania (38th - $9,504), and Day 2 chip leader David Coleman (27th - $13,780). Chris Grigorian, also known as ''The Armenian Express'', had a good start of the day but he had to settle for 24th place. Grigorian ran his pocket jacks into the pocket queens of Peng and he took home $13,780.

WSOP Bracelet winner Preston Lee and Johan Guilbert tangled in one particular hand where Guilbert fired on all streets. Lee called with his pocket sevens on a board with two overcards and an underpair. The entire table got up on their feet and verbally admired Lee's hero call. Lee survived the day with just 640,000 while Guilbert Only has 370,000. Other players that are still in include Joe Curcio (2,710,000), Sergio Fernandez (1,615,000), Gustavo Darosamuniz (745,000), and Daniel Park (300,000).

They will continue Friday on Level 25 with the blinds at 20,000 and 40,000 and a big blind ante of 40,000. The remaining 16 players have an average stack of 44 big blinds and there will be plenty of room to play with the levels still being 100 minutes long.

The plan is to play down to the final six players and PokerNews will be there to provide live coverage.

Vladimir Alexandrov

Vladimir Alexandrov opened to 65,000 in middle position and was called by Joe Curcio on his left. Vladimir Revniaga three-bet to 260,000 in the hijack and the action folded back to Alexandrov. He thought for a minute before four-bet shoving all in for 710,000. Curcio asked for a count but folded while Revniaga snap-called.

Vladimir Revniaga: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Vladimir Alexandrov: {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}

Joe Curcio and Christopher Ma were heads-up on the flop that fell {j-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}. Curcio led out for 75,000 from the hijack and Ma shipped all in for around 350,000 on the button. Curcio instantly called and the cards were tabled.

Joe Curcio: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Christopher Ma: {j-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

Ma flopped top pair but it was no match for the pocket queens of Curcio. The {6-Spades} on the turn narrowed Ma's outs even more and the {7-Hearts} on the river sealed the deal.

Yicheng Xu raised to 70,000 in the cutoff and Fiodor Martino shoved all in for around 740,000 in the small blind. The action was back on Xu who sigh-called to put Martino at risk.

Yicheng Xu: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Fiodor Martino: {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}

The flop came {k-Spades}{9-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and Xu took a strong lead with a set of nines. The {7-Diamonds} on the turn left Martino drawing dead but Xu made quads when the {9-Diamonds} completed the board for good measure.

Chris Grigorian

Timothy Miles opened to 50,000 in early position and Chris Grigorian three-bet to 150,000 from the cutoff. Dong Sheng Peng stuck in a four-bet to 325,000 which got Miles to fold. Grigorian five-bet shoved all in for around 700,000 and Peng quickly called.

Dong Sheng Peng: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Chris Grigorian: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

Peng had a comfortable lead with the larger of the two pairs and the flop of {9-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades} changed nothing. The {4-Hearts} and {8-Hearts} runout was also no help to Grigorian who headed to the payout desk.

Lee Blows Table Away With Hero Call

Niveau 22 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Preston Lee
Preston Lee

Fiodor Martino raised from the under-the-gun position to 46,000 and he was called by Adam Walton in middle position, Johan Guilbert from the hijack, and Preston Lee from the cutoff.

The flop was dealt {q-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and it checked to Guilbert. He min-bet 20,000 and Lee and Martino called. Walton got out of the way.

The turn was the {3-Hearts} and Martino checked to Guilbert again. He put a bet ten-times as big in the middle when he pushed 205,000 forward. Lee thought about it for a long while before calling. Martino folded and he let them continue heads-up.

The {k-Diamonds} was dealt on the river and Guilbert wanted to see how much Lee had behind. It was 385,000 and Guilbert tanked for about four minutes. He then announced all in and he let out an exaggerated sigh when Lee didn't snap call.

Lee also shot in the tank and he called after a couple of minutes. Guilbert tabled {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and Lee showed {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs} for the winning hand.

The entire table got up from their seats and expressed how impressed they were with Lee's call.

David Coleman

The board was already {q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{8-Hearts} and the pot had about 210,000 in it. David Coleman sat in the big blind with a bet of 90,000 in front of him while Adam Walton had every last chip he had in front of him worth 438,000.

Coleman was tanking for a while and even apologised to the table for making them wait. He finally called and he flipped open {j-Clubs}{7-Clubs} but he was far from pleased when Walton showed {q-Spades}{j-Hearts}.

The river was the {3-Clubs} and Coleman wasn't able to come back from behind.

Unlucky Turn Card for Charania

Mohsin Charania
Mohsin Charania

Mohsin Charania was grinding the short stack for most of the level but finally found a good spot to get all of his chips in the middle. Charania was all in for around 90,000 and was up against Gustavo Darosamuniz.

Mohsin Charania: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Gustavo Darosamuniz: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}

Charania was in a dominating position and the flop of {j-Clubs}{10-Spades}{8-Hearts} left him in the lead. However, the {9-Diamonds} on the turn gave Darosamuniz a straight and the {3-Spades} on the river ended Charania's tournament.
