Hands #135-143: Lull then Huge Double for Fontaine

Niveau 39 : 500,000/1,000,000, 1,000,000 ante
Jean-René Fontaine
Jean-René Fontaine

Hand #135: Heads up, the bracelet twinkling between them, Howard Mash and Jean-René Fontaine started their one-on-one battle with a raise from button Mash to 3,000,000, no call.

Hand #136: Fontaine folded his button.

Hand #137: Mash made it 2,500,000 to go from the button and folded to Fontaine's three-bet to 5,500,000.

Hand #138: Fontaine folded his button again.

Hand #139: Mash took the same button-folding option.

Hand #140: Ditto hands #136 and #138.

Hand #141: Another button fold from Mash.

Hand #142: Fontaine raised to 4,000,000 and Mash quickly threw his hand away.

Hand #143: Mash raised to 3,000,000 and Fontaine three-bet 7,500,000. Mash set his opponent all-in for 21,700,000 effective and Fontaine called, in good shape with {a-Diamonds}{8-Spades} vs. Mash's {a-Spades}{2-Spades}. The flop and turn had the word "chop" fluttering around the Amazon stage area: {j-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{9-Hearts} but the {8-Clubs} pinged out on the river to keep Fontaine's bracelet hopes very much alive. They're neck and neck now.

Jim McNurlan Eliminated in 3rd Place ($303,705)

Niveau 39 : 500,000/1,000,000, 1,000,000 ante
James Mcnurlan
James Mcnurlan

Hand #134: Jim McNurlan shipped his stack in on the button: 18,800,000 chips in total. Newly chipped up Howard Mash made the call and in a flash the second called all-in in a row was in progress.

Mash: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}
McNurlan: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

"Give me a nine!" shouted one half of the supporters thronging the final table.

"One time!" shouted the other half.

The flop brought howls of delight from McNurlan's side: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} for two pair. They held over the {5-Diamonds} turn, but the river brought a fourth diamond, the {6-Diamonds} making a flush with one of Mash's nines. There were warm handshakes all round, illustrating the camaraderie that has characterised this event the whole way through.

Hands #109-115: Mash Jams Repeatedly, Rewarded with Two-Outer Double

Niveau 39 : 500,000/1,000,000, 1,000,000 ante
Howard Mash
Howard Mash

Hand #109: Walk for Adam Richardson.

Hand #110: Jim McNurlan raised to 4,000,000 on the button, won the pot, and started the attempt to grind back to the sort of dominating lead he had until just recently.

Hand #111: McNurlan tried it agains the next hand, raising to 2,000,000 first to act, but Mash reraised all in for 15,500,000 and McNurlan folded.

Hand #112: Richardson raised to 2,000,000 and again, there went Mash, all in for 19,500,000 hoovering up the open-raise.

Hand #113: Jean-René Fontaine open jammed 15,800,000, picking up the 2.5 million up for grabs in blinds and ante.

Hand #114: McNurlan raised to 2,000,000 on the button to take his own 2,500,000 down.

Hand #115: Richardson took his turn raising on the button, only to find Mash shoving all in again for 22,000,000. This time a call was in the offiing: it was pair vs. pair, with Mash both the player at risk and having to resort to calling for a ten:

Mash: {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}
Richardson: {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

Straight away, Mash got his wish - a flop of {10-Spades}{3-Clubs}{4-Hearts}. No re-spike for Richardson on the {6-Spades}{8-Diamonds} turn and river and suddenly Mash is back in the running.

Hands #100-105: Richardson Makes All-In Move (Uncalled)

Niveau 39 : 500,000/1,000,000, 1,000,000 ante

Hand #100: Howard Mash called on button, Jim McNurlan in the big blind raised to 2,800,000 and Mash called again. On the flop of {4-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{9-Hearts} McNurlan led out for 4,000,000 and picked up the pot.

Hand #101: McNurlan made up the small blind and Adam Richardson checked. They both checked the {9-Clubs}{4-Spades}{a-Diamonds} flop but on the {9-Hearts} McNurlan led out for 3,500,000; Richardson called. The river brought the {6-Spades}. McNurlan led again, this time for 8,500,000. Richardson tank-folded.

Hand #102: Mash was refunded his 800,000 blind and ante plus gained 400,000 more in a walk.

Hand #103: Mash made up the small blind and Jean-René Fontaine checked. Mash bet 900,000 on the uncoordinated flop and this ended the hand.

Hand #104: Small blind Fontaine raised to 3,700,000 and picked up the big blind from McNurlan.

Hand #105: Mash and Fontaine folded, small blind McNurlan made it 2,900,000 to go and Richardson shipped his whole stack in: a total of 13,500,000. This was too rich for McNurlan's blood and he let it go.
