Event #70: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em 6-Handed is upon us and cards will be in the air at 3 p.m. local time. It's the 70th event of the 2019 World Series of Poker held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. The event is planned to play down to a winner over the next four days and today will be the first step in the process of crowning a new champion.

Last year, the tournament was won by no other than Jean-Robert Bellande. He beat a field of 621 players last year to win his first WSOP gold bracelet and the first-place prize of $616,302. The tournament is expected to have some big numbers again when registration ends at the start of Day 2. New entries would enter the tournament with a fresh stack of 30,000 and blinds at 1,000/2,000 with a 2,000 big blind ante.

The tournament will feature one-hour levels and they'll play ten of them on the first day. Another ten levels will be played on Day 2 of the tournament and they'll play down to the final six players on Day 3. A winner will be crowned on Day 4 of the tournament. Players will have a 15-minute break after every two levels. They will all start with 30,000 in chips and blind levels that will start at 100/100 with a big blind ante of 100.

Make sure to stay tuned to PokerNews to follow the process of finding Bellande's successor.

Liu Hits Trips

Niveau 1 : 100/100, 100 ante

There is an interesting line-up of players on Table #441 in the Amazon Purple section at the start of Event #70.

Andras Nemeth, Dietrich Fast, and Jonathan Little are among the five players to take their seats at the table, and two of them have just been in action.

The board was down {q-Hearts}{2-Spades}{4-Spades}{a-Hearts}, and Fast bet 800 from the button after the action had been checked to him. Both Little, in the small blind, and Jiaxiu Liu, from the big blind, called and the turn fell the {a-Diamonds}.

All three players checked to a showdown, and Liu tabled {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for trips after Little had shown {k-Spades}{q-Spades} for two pair. Fast mucked and Little passed his cards to the dealer before Liu picked up an early pot.

Shakerchi Short as Gomez Hits Nut Flush

Niveau 1 : 100/100, 100 ante

The completed board was down {2-Hearts}{8-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts}{j-Hearts}, and Javier Gomez checked from the cutoff. With around 11,000 in the middle. Talal Shakerchi bet 5,500 and saw Gomez go into the tank.

Close to 90 seconds passed before Gomez lifted chips from his stack and raised to 16,000.

Shakerchi sighed and removed his headphones before making the call just a few seconds later.

Gomez flipped over {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} for the nut flush, and Shakerchi mucked.
