River Bet Wins It for Steinbach

Niveau 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Kris Steinbach raised to 5,100 under the gun and the player on the cutoff called. The button three-bet to 18,000 and Steinbach called but the cutoff folded.

The flop was {j-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{7-Spades} and Steinbach checked. His opponent bet 15,000 and Steinbach check-called. The turn brought the {k-Hearts} and both players checked it to the {2-Spades} river. This time, Steinbach fired a bet of 31,000 and his opponent thought for a long while then gave up his hand. Steinbach showed {8-Hearts}{8-Spades} before raking in the pot.

Fate Smiles Upon Madsen Twice

Niveau 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

According to an observer, Jeff Madsen just swept up a large pot after eliminating an opponent who had about 80,000. The person said Madsen was dealt a {7-Clubs} face up, and after giving that one back, he picked up {q-}{q-} against an opponent with {a-}{k-}. The race went Madsen's way and he's now north of 200,000.

King By Name, Kings By Nature

Niveau 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

On a {5-Spades}{9-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop it looked like Andrew King had bet 21,000 and had been raised to 45,000 by a single opponent. King had then re-raised all in and his opponent was tanking.

"I'm happy with the pot," said King.

"Probably good advice," said his opponent.

"I don't want to be coolered," replied King. "I'm happy with what's in there."

"You show I show?" his opponent said. "You remember what we said? This is going to be my one time."

In the end he folded and King showed {k-}{k-}.

Matt Affleck
Matt Affleck

Blair Hinkle raised to 5,000 from the button, and Matt Affleck called in the big blind.

Affleck checked the {2-Spades}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop to Hinkle, who bet 4,000. Affleck called.

On the {8-Hearts} turn, Affleck checked, and Hinkle bet 50,000, more than enough to put Affleck in for his last 20,900. Affleck folded.

Kay Drops a Big Flip

Niveau 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

A player opened in the cutoff for 4,500, Josh Kay made it 14,000 on the button and Gary Dolenga ripped all in for 63,300 in the small blind. The opener mucked but Kay sighed and called after about a minute of thought, showing {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}. Dolenga had one of the hands he likely hoped to see in {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs} but the {7-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{k-Spades} board brought all the high cards he didn't want to see, costing him most of his stack.

Hu Still Climbing

Niveau 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

888 Poker qualifier David Hu is still steadily growing his stack despite losing a small pot just now. The board read {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{j-Spades}{6-Diamonds} when Hu called a bet of 3,200 from the button. His opponent sat under the gun.

The river was the {5-Diamonds} and both players checked quickly. Hu was shown {j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and he couldn't beat that and mucked.
