Welcome to GGPoker WSOP Online Bracelet Event #80: People's Choice Event [Pros Vote]

WSOP GGpoker
WSOP GGpoker

September has arrived and the time to win World Series of Poker bracelets is running thin. Luckily for poker players on GGPoker, an event that can fit into many bankrolls is on the docket: Event #80: People's Choice Event [Pros Vote].

The voters have spoken and it will be $600 No-Limit Hold'em 6-Handed that determines today's bracelet winner.

Everyone who pays up that amount gets a 25K starting stack with blinds beginning at 100/200/25. They'll play 15-minute levels until someone winds up with all of the chips, with up to two reentries allowed per player. They'll have 3 1/2 hours to use those reentries.

Despite the six-handed format most of the way, the final table will be nine-handed with real names used.

Already, more than 100 players are registered with more than two hours to go until game time. Some of those early birds include George Wolff, Galen Hall, Simon Higgins, Nick Marchington, Belarmino De Souza, Chris Moorman and Steven van Zadelhoff. Stay tuned to PokerNews starting at 2 p.m. EDT to find out if one of these, or someone else, emerges as the latest bracelet winner on GGPoker.

Owen Swinging Up Then Down

Niveau 8 : 500/1,000, 125 ante
Adam Owen
Adam Owen

Adam Owen opened under the gun, one player called, then Scott Margereson three-bet to 7,490 in the small blind. Owen peeled and they saw a {q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{q-Spades} flop. Margereson bet 4,300 and Owen called. Both players checked the {a-Clubs}, bringing a {10-Spades}. Owen crammed for 31K, a bit over the pot.

Margereson decided to look him up with {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts} but Owen had the goods: {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}.

A few hands later, Owen opened and called a shove from a player with 15K. This time, he had worse odds and worse luck as his {5-}{5-} couldn't overcome {8-}{8-}.

Weekend Bracelet Bonanza

Niveau 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

There was no shortage of action over the weekend, per usual, at GGPoker. In fact, three bracelets were awarded on a busy Sunday.

Trygve "FullSendWig" Leite shipped the $300 Double Stack, Gediminas "NeverGambol" Uselis won the $400 Forty Stack, and Adnan "Bolazar" Hacialioglu won the $1,000 Turbo.

Unlikely Dub for Negreanu

Niveau 13 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Action folded to the small blind, where Daniel Negreanu shoved for about 30,000. That was met with a snap-call by the big blind, who held {7-}{7-}. Negreanu was totally crushed with {6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} but that changed in a hurry when two more fours appeared on the flop. Negreanu found a double with trips right before the reentry period closed.

Brutal Beat Sinks Hellmuth

Niveau 13 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Phil Hellmuth opened to 4,800 under the gun and got called in two spots. On the {10-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} flop, he bet 5,742 and "Happydris" called. Hellmuth barreled again for 14,442 on the {q-Spades} turn and Happydris shoved.

Hellmuth called off his last 38K, having flopped the nuts with {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}, and he was well ahead of {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}. The {k-Clubs} river gave Happydris a full house though, bringing a brutal end to Hellmuth's tournament.

$25M Main Event Down to Just 38 Players

Niveau 14 : 1,400/2,800, 350 ante
Bryan Piccioli
Bryan Piccioli

It promised to become a new milestone for online poker and it absolutely delivered on its promise. Event #77: $5,000 No Limit Hold'em Main Event drew a total of 5,082 players to smash the $25M guarantee and create a total prize pool of $27,559,500 — the biggest-ever in online poker history.

At the start of Day 2, 1,171 players were still in contention, vying for one of the 728 money spots first before focusing their sights on the jaw-dropping $3,904,686 first-place prize for the champion, to be awarded on Saturday, September 5. Over the course of 12 hours, the group of 1,171 got whittled down all the way to a mere 38 who each have $39,214 already guaranteed to show for their respective deep runs.

Leading the way after the long day is Bryan "smbdySUCKme" Piccioli originally from Allegany, NY but residing in Las Vegas, NV, who amassed 18,417,494 to bag the biggest stack of the night. Piccioli is no stranger to running deep in WSOP Main Events; in 2017, he finished sixth for a career-best score of $1,675,000. He'll eclipse that figure by finishing third or better in this event.

Botteon Goes from Big Stack to Bust

Niveau 21 : 5,000/10,000, 1,250 ante
Botteon elimination
Botteon elimination

Patrick "Pepsi_zero" Semrau opened for 20,000 in the hijack, Brunno Botteon made it 62,000 on his left, and Semrau came back with 210,000. Botteon jammed for 380K and Semrau called.

Botteon: {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Semrau: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}

The flop brought a king but it was far from friendly for Semrau as {5-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{k-Hearts} gave Botteon a flush draw. Bricks fell on the turn and river, though, and Botteon hit the rail while Semrau rocketed to 1 million in chips.

Massive Win for Christian Rudolph in WSOP Online Event #70: $25,000 NLH PPC ($1,800,290)

Niveau 23 : 7,000/14,000, 1,750 ante

At his fourth WSOP final table, Christian Rudolph has finally claimed his first bracelet, in Event #70: $25,000 NLH POKER PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP for $1,800,290. The biggest event of the summer attracted 407 entries to create the second-biggest prize pool of the summer with $10,000,000 total.

Two years ago, Rudolph finished second behind Michael Addamo — who actually bubbled this event — in a 25K at the WSOPE. Back then, the heads-up match was a rollercoaster with players exchanging blows for hours. This time, Rudolph succeeded and closed it out within 20 minutes. This win will take the German up to almost $3,000,000 in WSOP cashes alone and eclipse his previous live scores almost threefold.

Runner-up Chris Hunichen more than doubled his total WSOP earnings with his result, adding to the countless accolades of the multiple online triple crown winner. Rudolph and Hunichen were joined by numerous familiar faces and names from the online and live poker scene like bracelet winner Shankar "Saquon" Pillai, Aram "Pusha T" Zobian, who finished sixth in the 2018 WSOP Main Event, and Day 1 chip leader Jason Koon.

Ryan Riess

Ryan Riess bet 80,000 on a board of {7-Spades}{4-Hearts}{j-Spades}{k-Hearts} from under the gun. Shyngis "somebodyelse" Satubayev check-raised all in for Riess' last 200K. Riess tanked well into his time bank then called with {a-}{j-} but was behind {k-Clubs}{4-Clubs}.

The river didn't help Riess, who had to resign himself to $2,070.

Negreanu Meets His End

Niveau 29 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu's survival story finally ended when he shoved all in for 327K in middle position and "ClockworkElf" woke up with {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts} to call in the big blind. Negreanu was in rough shape with {j-Spades}{10-Clubs} but couldn't have asked for much better than the {k-Spades}{10-Spades}{5-Spades} flop given how far behind he'd been. However, bricks on the turn and river sent "Kid Poker" packing after surviving numerous all-in spots over the past few hours.
