Volpe Eliminated by Ramos

Niveau 15
Paul Volpe
Paul Volpe

Big O

On a flop of {10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, Paul Volpe led from the big blind and was raised the size of the pot by Felipe Ramos on the button.

Volpe put in the rest of his stack and was at risk.

Paul Volpe: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{q-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Felipe Ramos: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{3-Spades}

Volpe's flush draw was nullified by Ramos' nut flush draw, but he still had plenty of straight outs against Ramos' two pair.

The turn {6-Clubs} and river {3-Spades} brought Volpe no help and filled up Ramos to bring the field down to 21 before break.

Marco Johnson
Marco Johnson

Pot-Limit Omaha 8 or Better

Off his remaining 44,000 chip stack, Marco Johnson bet the pot in the cutoff and was re-potted by Nick Schulman on the button.

Johnson moved all in for the rest and Schulman called.

Marco Johnson: {k-Clubs}{j-Spades}{5-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Nick Schulman: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}

The board ran out {10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{2-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and Schulman's aces combined with the nines on the board for a winning two pair to eliminate Johnson and bring the field down to 23 players, four away from the money.

Johnson on Fumes After Doubling Schulman

Niveau 15
Nick Schulman
Nick Schulman

No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw

Ben Diebold opened for 10,000 and was three-bet to 35,000 by Marco Johsnon. Nick Schulman then cold-four bet to 80,000.

Diebold folded, but Johnson went all-in for a little more than Schulman's remaining 198,000.

Schulman opted to call and put himself at risk.

Schulman needed to draw one versus Johnson's pat hand which he showed to be {8-}{7-}{6-}{3-}{2-}.

Schulman had {7-}{6-}{4-}{2-} and was drawing to a three or five.

He squeezed out a {3-} to win the hand and secure a huge double-up, while leaving Johnson on fumes.

Felipe Ramos

Pot-Limit 2-7 Triple Draw

in a battle of the blinds, after Felipe Ramos limped in the small blind, Jean-Robert Bellande made it 35,000 in the big blind and Ramos came along with a call.

Ramos drew one and Bellande patted.

After Ramos checked, Bellande fired out a stack of 85,000 chips.

Ramos tossed {x-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{2-} into the muck, and conceded the pot to Bellande.

On the next hand, Ramos raised on the button to 13,000 and was called in the big blind by Paul Volpe.

Volpe drew two, while Ramos needed three cards.

Volpe then led out for 25,000 and was called by Ramos.

They each drew one and checked on the next two drawing rounds, with Volpe showing down a {10-}{8-}{4-}{3-}{2-} for the winner, taking a bit more from the GG Poker Ambassador.

Nacho Barbero: {x-}{x-} / {j-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{6-Spades}{7-Clubs} fold on sixth

The action was picked up on fifth street on which Phil Galfond bet and Nacho Barbero called. Jeff Madsen then raised and both opponents called. On sixth, Madsen bet and Galfond raised, which sent Barbero deep into the tank. The Argentinian reluctantly folded and Galfond reraised as Madsen called all-in for 33,000 behind.

Galfond had a low draw and no high-hand just yet, which didn't change when he peeled the river. Madsen spiked a trey on the river and scooped it all with the superior low and ace-king high.

Five Card Draw High

Tuan Le raised to 13,000 in the hijack and was called by both Mark Gregorich on the button and Richard Ashby in the big blind.

Ashby drew one, Le drew one and Gregorich drew two.

After the draw, Ashby led out for his remaining stack of 53,000 chips. After some deliberation, Le called. Gregorich then quickly called behind as well.

Le first showed {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} for two pair, nines and threes.

Ashby showed {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for a flush, which in most cases would be the winner, but Gregorich then showed {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{2-Spades} for a full house, earning him a sizeable pot and eliminating Ashby from the tournament.

Pot-Limit 2-7 Triple Draw

Before the draws, Naoya Kihara raised to 7,000 in the small blind and was three-bet by Tuan Le in the big blind to 22,000. Kihara came back with a four-bet to 75,000. Le went into the tank then opted to call, building an already huge pot.

Kihara patted and Le drew one.

Kihara then checked to Le who moved all in for approximately 150,000. Kihara quickly called.

Both players then patted their hands and revealed.

Naoya Kihara: {8-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{2-}
Tuan Le: {8-}{7-}{6-}{4-}{2-}

David Benyamine opened to 8,000 in the cutoff and was called by Greg Mueller on the button. Randy Ohel then moved all in on the big blind and Benyamine called for over 100,000. Mueller opted out.

Both players stood pat and it was Ohel who just had Benyamine pipped.

Randy Ohel: {10-}{8-}{7-}{4-}{3-}

Hellmuth Loses to Matusow; Busts to Ohel

Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

A-5 Triple Draw

Phil Hellmuth lost the vast majority of his stack to Mike Matusow when he could not beat the {8-}{4-}{3-}{2-}{a-} of Matusow.

"You needed a four for the wheel?" Matusow asked but Hellmuth gave no answer. What followed was the all-in of Hellmuth for 9,000 and Naoya Kihara raised, Randy Ohel called.

On the first draw, Kihara and Hellmuth discarded one while Ohel took two. Kihara bet and Ohel called.

The second draw was patted by Kihara, Ohel took two once more and Hellmuth discarded one. Kihara's bet was once more called by Ohel.

After the final draw, Kihara patted and so did Ohel, while Hellmuth discarded one card for the third time.

Kihara's check was met by a bet of Ohel and the Japanese reluctantly folded.

Ohel tabled the {6-}{5-}{4-}{2-}{a-} and Hellmuth tossed his cards into the muck, gasped a very brief "so rough" before chatting with Matusow for a few moments and heading out of the tournament area.

Ramos Knocks Out Kelsall and Lehr in Big O

Andrew Kelsall

Big O

Three ways to the {10-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop, Andrew Kelsall bet the pot and Felipe Ramos then pushed in a tower of T-5,000 chips for a pot-sized raise. Keith Lehr called all-in with his short stack and Kelsall also jammed his chips in to get called by Ramos.

Keith Lehr: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades}
Andrew Kelsall: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}{q-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Hearts}
Felipe Ramos: {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}

The magic {2-Clubs} turn gave Ramos the flush and nut low, which remained ahead on the {q-Clubs} river to secure the double knockout.

"This is probably my new favorite game," Ramos said with a big grin on his face while he raked in the large pot.
