Stanford and Martini Open Up Leads

William Stanford has put Phil Galfond on the edge by claiming yet another pot. The board read {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} and Stanford led out with a bet of 16,500. Galfond called and the {3-Clubs} landed on the river. Stanford fired out another bet of 36,000 and Galfond tanked for a couple of minutes before calling.

Stanford turned over {a-Diamonds}{9-Spades} and Galfond was forced to give up his hand. Galfond did manage to double up his short stack shortly after but still remains a huge underdog.

At the table next door, Julien Martini slid out a turn bet of 11,000 on a board reading {10-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. Anthony Zinno called and the {8-Clubs} completed the board.

Martini checked this time and Zinno threw in a bet of 30,000. Martini check-raised to 80,000 which put Zinno in the tank for nearly five minutes. He eventually laid his hand down and Martini took a chip lead in their matchup.

Ivey Folds River Shove, Puustinen Stays Alive

Henri Puustinen is still alive in the Heads-Up Championship after Phil Ivey folded to his all-in bet on the river.

With about 30,000 in the pot and {7-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{a-Spades}{k-Clubs}{2-Clubs} on the board, Puustinen put his remaining 34,000 chips into the middle.

Ivey went deep into the tank for nearly three minutes, staring the Finn down before swiveling in his chair and looking upwards to contemplate his decision.

After another stare down and counting out calling chips, Ivey exhaled and let his hand hit the muck.

Kalas Check-Raises River Versus Vieira

Before the blinds went up, Joao Vieira opened to 2,500 and Kane Kalas defended.

The duo checked the {6-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop to the {q-Hearts} turn, where Kalas check-called for 3,100.

The {2-Diamonds} completed the board and Kalas checked. Vieira bet 9,200, and Kalas thought for a bit before deciding to raise to 21,900.

Vieira tanked for several minutes and alternated between staring at the board and his opponent, while Kalas continued to look down and shuffle chips. Eventually, Vieira counted out the calling chips and tossed them in, as Kalas tabled {6-Diamonds}{5-Spades} to extend his lead with a straight.
