Sam Soverel Regains Chip Lead over Masato Yokosawa

Sam Soverel is once again leading Masato Yokosawa after the two played a massive pot.

With 18,000 in the middle, the flop came {3-Hearts}{a-Spades}{7-Diamonds}. Soverel's bet of 5,000 was quickly called.

On the {k-Diamonds} turn, Soverel nearly potted it to 25,000. After about 10 seconds, Yokosawa called.

The {2-Spades} came on the river and Soverel jammed for his remaining stack and Yokosawa quickly tossed his cards into the muck.

Jake Daniels: {k-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}
Dan Smith: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

The board ran out {6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{j-Spades} to knock out Daniels as he failed to improve, while Smith advances and will face Laszlo Bujtas in the second round.

Leonard Climbs Back into a Lead

Patrick Leonard
Patrick Leonard

A completed board of {9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} was spread across the felt with a little over 70,000 chips in the pot. Marius Gierse checked to Patrick Leonard who ripped all in for 81,000.

Gierse went into the tank for a bit as he squirmed in his chair before finding a call. Leonard flipped over {10-Clubs}{7-Spades} for a full house while Gierse was left with {a-}{q-} for just ace high. Leonard scored himself a big double up and clawed his way back into a healthy chip lead.

Vieira Edges in Front of Kalas

Joao Vieira and Kane Kalas were in a three-bet pot with over 40,000 in the middle already. The flop fell {k-Clubs}{9-Spades}{7-Clubs} and Kalas led out with a bet of 20,400. Vieira called and the {8-Spades} landed on the turn.

Kalas checked this time and Vieira checked it back to see the {3-Diamonds} on the river. Kalas checked again and Vieira quickly tapped the table. Kalas showed {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades} for ace-high while Vieira held {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a pair of nines.

Stanford Finally Eliminates Galfond

After having Phil Galfond on the ropes for multiple levels now, William Stanford finally finished the job after winning a flip. The two players got all of their chips in the middle preflop with Galfond at risk once again.

Phil Galfond: {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}
William Stanford: {a-Hearts}{9-Spades}

The flop came {10-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Hearts} and Galfond still held the lead with his pair of sixes. However, the {9-Diamonds} on the turn vaulted Stanford into the lead. The {q-Diamonds} on the river changed nothing and Galfond was eliminated.

D'Ambrosio Makes Tough All-in Laydown, Still Trails Destefano

Jimmy D'Ambrosio faced a river jam from Dylan Destefano for his remaining 50,000 chips on a {6-Clubs}{8-Spades}{2-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{4-Spades} board, with roughly 50,000 chips already in the pot.

After thinking for a while, he asked for Destefano to show the bluff after mucking his cards. Destefano did not oblige.

Following the action, D'Ambrosio was convinced in two things: that he made a correct laydown and that a "famous Jimmy D comeback" was coming soon.

Galfond Stays Alive

Phil Galfond was down to just 30,400 chips and found a hand to get them all in the middle. William Stanford quickly called and the cards were on their backs.

Phil Galfond: {k-Spades}{j-Hearts}
William Stanford: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}

The flop of {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} provided no immediate help for Galfond. However, the {9-Hearts} on the turn gave him a straight draw to chop and a straight draw to win. It was the {10-Spades} on the river that gave Galfond the only straight and a double up.

Soverel Leading Yokosawa

Sam Soverel raised to 7,000 and Masato Yokosawa called.

Yokosawa check-called for 5,000 on the {j-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop and check-called for 12,000 on the {4-Spades} turn, while both players checked the {9-Hearts} river.

Yokosawa tabled {k-Hearts}{6-Spades} and Soverel showed {q-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} to take the pot and add to his lead.
