Phil Hellmuth made his initial appearance in the 2022 World Series of Poker Main Event much like in year's past — decked out in a costume. But his arrival on Thursday wasn't met with the usual excitement from the crowd, nor was his entrance as extravagant as in previous years.
The "Poker Brat" showed up for the Day 2abc session in a Darth Vader costume and a few cheered while a number of players inside the Bally's ballroom booed. Most seemed disinterested in the spectacle.
Ivan Zufic raised it up from under the gun and picked up two callers including Brian Hastings in the cutoff. The flop came ![]()

and Zufic led out with a bet of 3,200. The player in middle position called and Hastings raised to 10,500. Zufic called and the other player got out of the way.
The turn brought the

on the river. Zufic led out with a bet of 27,000 this time and Hastings slid his cards to the muck.
Joe Cada opened to 2,000 from middle position and the cutoff called. Matthew Cloepfil then moved all in on the button for approximately 20,000, and Farid Barkhordar got his chips in from the big blind. Cada called for his 45,900 chips, and the cutoff folded.

A few minutes after losing that big pot to Shawn Smith, Phil Hellmuth stuck the rest of his 6,000 in the middle and was up against Jeff Frerichs.

Hellmuth made a pair of kings and improved to two pair on the
turn, but the

Jimmy D'Ambrosio opened to 2,600 from the cutoff and small blind, Lukas Hafner, reraised to 9,500. D'Ambrosio called and the dealer fanned the flop ![]()

showed up on the river and Hafner bet 12,000. D'Ambrosio responded by raising to 30,000 and it sent Hafner in to the tank before finally deciding to fold.
2009 world champion and 2018 fifth-place finisher Joe Cada has been eliminated on Day 2abc in what appears to be a rivered two-outer against him. Cada filmed his own bustout hand below.
