Brutal River! Aces, Queens, & Jacks All In Preflop in WSOP Main Event

Niveau 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Haim Or Krief

There have been a number of memorable hands during this year's World Series of Poker Main Event. You can add a three-way all in cooler that ended in a bad beat during Tuesday's Day 6 action to the list.

With 86 players out of the original 8,663 left in poker's world championship event, and the blinds at 50,000/100,000, three players picked up premium pocket pairs. Two of those players were nursing stacks of around the 20-big blind mark and were looking for a big hand to double up to have an opportunity to make a run at the final table.

Conniff Doubles Through Bittar

Niveau 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Asher Conniff
Asher Conniff

In the last hand before the dinner break, Asher Conniff defended the big blind against a raise by the joint chip leader at the table Kamal Bittar. On the {a-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop, Conniff check-called a bet and then check-jammed the {10-Hearts} turn when facing another bet of what appeared to be 750,000.

Bittar called and put Conniff at risk for 3,610,000.

Asher Conniff: {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Kamal Bittar: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

The {8-Clubs} river was a blank and Conniff secured the double, putting a dent into the big stack of Bittar.

Blazevich Has Ong Tanking Into Break

Niveau 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Heads-up in a blind-on-blind battle with the board showing {8-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{7-Hearts}, Dingxiang Ong bet 175,000 before Cameron Blazevich raised to 700,000.

Ong called as the river came the {7-Clubs}. Blazevich shoved for 3,990,000 and Ong went into the tank.

Ong shuffled his chips for several minutes as the rest of the field headed off on dinner break, while Blazevich stood motionless with his face covered by his hoodie. Ong eventually folded.

"Well played. You could let me know after," Ong said before joining the field on break.

Li Scores Huge Double

Niveau 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Victor Li
Victor Li

Victor Li opened to 240,000 from early position and was called by Tom Kunze on the button as well as Efthymia Litsou out of the small blind.

The flop came {9-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and Litsou checked. Li continued for 375,000 and was called by Kunze. Litsou responded with a raise to 1,100,000 only to see Li re-raise to 2,400,000. That action was enough to get a quick fold from Kunze. Undeterred, Litsou moved all in and Li called with the effective stack for his tournament life.

Victor Li: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Efthymia Litsou: {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}

Though at risk, Li was way ahead but the {3-Hearts} turn did give Litsou a gutshot. The {j-Clubs} river completed a safe board for Li who, after enduring a tough hour or so of play, heads into the dinner break on a high.

Allen Out Before the Dinner Break

Niveau 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Jack Allen
Jack Allen

Just before the field went on the dinner break, two of the shortest stacks in the field got their chips in and it was Jack Allen at risk against Jorge Hou with the cards already flipped over.

Jack Allen: {k-Clubs}{8-Hearts}
Jorge Hou: {q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

Both hit a pair on the {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop and Allen even made two pair with the {8-Diamonds} turn. However, the {3-Diamonds} on the river improved Hou to a flush and Allen departed in 68th place.

Rastogi Can't Survive Rollercoaster Ride

Rahul Rastogi

Rahul Rastogi ended up getting his stack of approximately 2,190,000 in from early position and was at risk against Matija Dobric under the gun.

Rahul Rastogi: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Matija Dobric: {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

The two were racing, and the {a-Clubs}{9-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop vaulted Rastogi in front as he did a small celebration, but just as quickly, the {j-Clubs} spiked the turn to leave him drawing dead to the {5-Diamonds} river, putting an end to the Aussie's deep Main Event run.

Li Gets A Fold

Niveau 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

After a failed bluff against Tom Kunze just a few hands earlier, Victor Li has shown no signs of slowing down. Li opened to 240,000 from middle position and received a single call from Efthymia Litsou out of the big blind.

Action checked through the {a-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{9-Hearts} flop to the {10-Diamonds} turn where Litsou checked for a second time. Li responded by leading out for 450,000 and Litsou called.

The {6-Hearts} river saw Litsou check once again. Li, not wanting to go to a cheap showdown, bet a hefty 2,000,000 and Litsou wasted little time in folding.
