Mori Eskandani
Mori Eskandani

Mori Eskandani raised and Nozomu Shimizu three-bet before Nick Pupillo four-bet to a total of 60,000. Eskandani committed the last of his chips and he was at risk for 65,000. Shimizu and Pupillo called the extra 5,000 and action was three ways.

The flop was J79 and Shimizu check-called a bet from Pupillo to see the K on the turn.

Both players checked the turn and Shimizu check-called again on the Q river. Pupillo turned over 1010 for a straight and Eskandani showed the losing AQ before he hit the rail in 16th place for $17,500.

Koray Aldemir was left short in a dust-up with Philip Sternheimer after both of the short stacks got it in against one another. Aldemir had KJ and Sternheimer had KQ. The board ran out 5AJ104 to give Sternheimer the straight and leave Aldemir with 6,000.

On the next hand, Aldemir committed his last 6,000 from the button. Mori Eskandani called and Ben Yu came along from the button.

Both remaining players checked through the 8J929 and the cards were turned up. Yu had A3, Eskandani had 55, and Aldemir had A10. Eskandani took the pot with nines and fives and Aldemir hit the rail in 21st place for $16,000.

Eric Wasserson

Eric Wasserson raised form the hijack and action folded to Yong Wang in the big blind, who three-bet. Wasserson called with a single small bet behind.

The flop came J46 and Wang bet, which was enough to put Wasserson all in.

Wasserson agonized for some time before eventually committing the last of his chips to the pot.

Eric Wasserson: KQ
Yong Wang: 99

Wasserson was drawing slim, but live.

The A turn gave Wasserson a Broadway draw but the 8 river failed to improve Wasserson and eliminated him just shy of the money.

Shimizu Wins With a Flush

Niveau 16 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

Joe McKeehen raised and Nozomu Shimizu was the lone caller from the big blind.

The flop was 358 and Shimizu check-called a bet from McKeehen.

Both players checked the 8 turn and the river was J. Shimizu checked and then called when McKeehen bet.

"Jack," McKeehen said as he turned over QJ. "Flush?"

Shimizu indeed had the flush and he turned over Q7 to take the pot.

McKeehen lost the hand but he has been floating around the 1,000,000 mark as the tournament navigates its way through a long bubble.
