Madsen Kicks Hawkins to the Rail

Jeff Madsen bet 6,600 from under the gun on a board of Q♦8♥10♥10♣ and a player in middle position called. Maurice Hawkins then raised to 26,500 on the button and Madsen moved all in.

The middle-position player folded, but Hawkins committed his last 28,000 and turned over 10♦2♦ for trip tens. Madsen, though, had A♥10♠ and was ahead with his ace-kicker.

"Queen, eight, or a deuce," Hawkins pleaded, but the dealer instead turned over the 3♥ on the river to send Hawkins to the rail.

"Looked like a deuce," a tablemate said as Hawkins made his exit.

The flop was K♣2♥8♠. Bellande checked and Kelsall bet 3,500. Duczak then went all in for 18,700, Bellande folded and Kelsall fairly quickly called.

"It's a trap," Daniels added on his way to the exit.

Kornuth Eliminates Farrell with an Ace on the River

Action started with John Thornton’s open to 2,400 in the cutoff. Niall Farrell three-bet to 6,600 on the button, to which Chance Kornuth responded with a four-bet to 19,000 from the small blind. The big blind and Thornton both folded. Farrell then quickly pushed all in for 33,000 total, which Kornuth called.

The flop came 4♥Q♥2♣, prompting a few gasps by the players at the table seeing the uncomfortable draw to the wheel.

The dealer dealt a 6♠ on the turn, which meant Farrell only had to dodge a three or an ace once more. However, it wasn’t meant to be, the river brought the A♠, chipping-up Kornuth and ending Farrell’s tournament.
