Negreanu Takes Mercier to Value Town

Niveau 3 : 150/300, 25 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Jason Mercier opened to 750 with {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and Daniel Negreanu three-bet to 2,200 holding {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}. The flop was {3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}, Negreanu continued with a bet of 2,200, and Mercier called.

The turn came {k-Hearts} and Negreanu bet 3,500. Mercier check-called. The {8-Hearts} fell on the river and Negreanu bet 6,000. Mercier thought briefly before calling and mucked when Negreanu tabled a better pair.

David Benyamine Rivers Will Kassouf

Niveau 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

William Kassouf opened from early position for 800 and got one caller in David Benyamine.

The following hand was accompanied by a lengthy mock-French-accented monologue that got no response from Frenchman Benyamine.

The flop was {4-Spades}{8-Clubs}{j-Clubs} and Benyamine check-called a 1,400-bet from Kassouf. The turn was the {a-Diamonds} which upped the output from Kassouf considerably. He bet 3,600 when it was checked to him and again Benyamine called.

The river was the {k-Clubs} and Benyamine saw more chatter but ultimately a check-behind from Kassouf.

Benyamine showed {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for a flush and Kassouf showed his {a-Hearts}{k-Spades} losing hand.

Randy Ohel's Persistence Pays Off

Niveau 3 : 150/300, 25 ante
Randy Ohel
Randy Ohel

One player opened and Randy Ohel called before the player in the blinds three-bet to 2,800. The initial raiser folded and Ohel called.

The flop came {2-Spades}{j-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and Ohel called a bet of 3,800 in position. The turn was the {3-Spades} and Ohel's opponent bet 7,000 this time. Ohel called again.

The river was the {6-Spades}. This time it checked to Ohel who moved all in for 14,525. His opponent thought about his decision for a while before calling.

Ohel showed {q-Spades}{8-Spades} for a flush, while his opponent mucked his cards, but {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs} was turned face up by the dealer as Ohel raked in his double-up.

Rast Caught Red-Handed

Niveau 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

After some turn action on a board of {K-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}, there were three players headed to the river with a substantial pot of about 15,000 already brewing. The final card was the {2-Diamonds} and Brian Rast bet 9,100 from the small blind. The big blind called after brief consideration and the button folded fairly quickly. Rast showed {Q-Clubs}{J-Hearts} for a flopped open-ended straight draw that didn't complete and the big blind flipped over {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for the third nuts.

Negreanu "Steals" a Pot

Niveau 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

Jean Fabre opened to 800 with {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} and got called by Daniel Negreanu holding {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and Giuseppe Zarbo with {4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}.

The flop was {2-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{a-Hearts} and Negreanu and Fabre checked-called a bet of 1,300 from Zarbo.

The {9-Hearts} on the turn slowed things down, and all three players checked to see the {k-Spades} on the river. Negreanu fired a bet of 2,500 and immediately an alarm in the building went off.

"They think I'm stealing," Negreanu yelled over to the rail as both of his opponents folded.

Max Steinberg Five-Bet Shoves Preflop

Niveau 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

We walked up to the table to see a pot being played out between Max Steinberg in the big blind and an opponent on the button. Steinberg had a bet of 3,000 in front of him, but he was the one currently in the tank, as the button had already reraised to 13,000. Steinberg thought it over for a bit before shoving all in for his stack, which was right around the starting stack of 50,000.

Steinberg had his opponent barely covered, and his opponent went deep into the tank. At one point, he flashed his cards to his neighbor, then after about 90 seconds, he flipped his cards, pocket queens, face up in front of him without announcing anything. Steinberg didn't flinch, and his opponent flipped his hand back up, before folding it a few moments later, giving Steinberg the pot.

Erkut Yilmaz Chips Up

Niveau 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

The player in the hijack opened with a raise to 750, the cutoff three-bet to 2,225, Erkut Yilmaz called from the button, the big blind called, and the original raiser did too.

The four players saw a flop of {10-Spades}{8-Spades}{4-Hearts} and the big blind checked. The hijack also checked and the cutoff bet 4,150. After a bit of thought, Yilmaz raised to 13,500. The big blind and hijack quickly folded, and after some consideration, the cutoff did the same and Yilmaz took the pot.

Will Kassouf Gets a Call

Niveau 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

The board at the river read {8-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{9-Spades} and it was Will Kassouf’s turn to act from the big blind.

The chatter continued as it had throughout the hand, as it had since he arrived at the table, and seemingly as it has since time began. The controversial motor-mouth from England is back in the Main Event, and even when the ESPN cameras are not surrounding him, the performance continues.

Kassouf promised a rainbow bet, but missed out on the T$1,000 yellow chip, and led for 5,625.

Andrew Dean was the player who had a decision to make and it didn’t seem as if the incessant chatter bothered him too much. Some at the table were smiling at Kassouf’s monologue, others ignoring it.

The Kassouf stream was suddenly interrupted by a call from Dean.

Kassouf showed {j-Spades}{7-Spades} for the rivered flush.

There was a beat before Dean revealed his {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts} full house to drag the pot while Kassouf complained that he had been two-outed on the river, but also saved a 1,000 chips by forgetting the yellow in his bet.

John Smith Loses to Quad Aces

Niveau 3 : 150/300, 25 ante
John Smith
John Smith

It's been a tough day for John Smith, but he's still battling in the Day 1c field of the Main Event.

In this hand, he opened to 700 from early position and was three-bet by Wyatt Ault to 1,400. Smith called and the flop came {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{k-Spades}.

Both players checked. The turn was the {6-Clubs} and both players checked again.

The river was the {5-Clubs} and Smith bet 1,000. Ault immediately raised to 5,000 and, after some consideration, Smith called.

Ault showed {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds} for quad aces and won the pot.

"Can't beat that!" said Smith, mucking.

"It's hard to play that one," replied Ault with a smile.

Smith still has an above starting stack midway through Level 3.
