Bryce Yockey Breaking Through

Niveau 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Bryce Yockey
Bryce Yockey

Bryce Yockey recorded his first WSOP cash in 2009 with a fourth-place finish in $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em 6-Handed. This summer he finally won his first WSOP gold bracelet in the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Eight or Better tournament.

Yockey followed that up with a fifth-place finish in Event #67: $25,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 8-Handed High Roller and a sixth-place finish in Event #72: $10,000 Seven Card Stud Championship. Adding in his 39th-place finish in Event #64: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em/Pot-Limit Omaha 8-Handed Mix and Yockey has earned more than $800,000 of his $1.6-million in WSOP earnings within the last three weeks.

Today, Yockey entered with just under 200,000 and has added about 50,000 to his stack. Given the run he has been on, it would not be a surprise to see Yockey make a deep run in the Main Event and put a nice finishing touch to an already strong summer.

Mike Rangel Rivers the Nuts Against Marshall White

Niveau 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Mike Rangel opened the action with a raise to 3,000 under the gun, Ellen Lambeth called in middle position, and Marshall White three-bet to 16,600 in middle position. The button cold-called, the blinds folded, and Rangel and Lambeth both called as well.

These four players went to a flop of {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and Rangel and Lambeth checked. White continued for 16,600, the button folded, and Rangel and Lambeth called.

It was three ways to the {3-Diamonds} turn and all three players checked. On the {9-Clubs} river, Rangel tossed out a bet of 25,000 and announced it. Lambeth got out of the way, and after thinking for a couple minutes, White called.

Rangel showed {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and gave a celebratory clap at his good fortune on the river. White took a hit and Rangel collected the big pot that put him up around 200,000 chips.

Petrangelo Doubles Through Burbick

Niveau 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Joining the action on the four-way turn of {10-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}, Nick Petrangelo bet 8,000 and Corey Burbick was the only caller in the cutoff. The {Q-Hearts} fell on the river and Petrangelo checked. Burbick slid forward a tower of orange T$5,000 chips, enough to easily cover, and Petrangelo had a decision for his remaining 36,400.

After more than a minute of consideration, Petrangelo called and Burbick rolled over {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for a pair of sevens and a busted straight and flush draw. Petrangelo had that beat with {Q-Clubs}{10-Hearts} for two pair and doubled up.

Esfandiari Kisses His Chips Goodbye ... Literally

Niveau 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Antonio Esfandiari
Antonio Esfandiari

After a limp from early position, Shawn Buchanan raised, making it 3,800 to play. Antonio Esfandiari called from the small blind, and the early-position limper called too.

The flop came down {J-Hearts}{5-Spades}{7-Spades} and Esfandiari led out with a bet of 5,700. The limper called but Buchanan folded.

On the {Q-Hearts} turn, Esfandiari led again for 9,100. The limper called.

"You never give up, Cyclops?" Antonio asked his glasses-clad opponent. "You're one of those never-give-up types, aren't you? I don't like that type."

The river was the {10-Clubs} and Esfandiari slowed down and checked. "Cyclops" bet 21,000 and Esfandiari dropped into the tank.

"Jack-ten would hurt me emotionally, not just financially," Esfandiari said. "What do you have, Cyclops?"

Esfandiari then cut out enough to call and held it in his hand. He kissed the chips.

"You want a gift?" Esfandiari asked. Then he turned to the dealer, and with chips in hand began to talk. "Will you take this and put it on his stack?"

The dealer shook his head.

"Just give it to him," Esfandiari said. The dealer refused again so Esfandiari himself reached over the table and put the call in front of his opponent's chips.

The player didn't reveal his hand until the dealer made sure to specify that it was, in fact, a call, then the player showed {8-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for a rivered straight, and it was good. Esfandiari shook his head and sent over the chips.

Loni Harwood
Loni Harwood

A player in middle position raised, Loni Harwood called from the next seat over, and Eric "Barstool Nate" Nathan called from the big blind.

The flop came down {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} and Nathan checked to the preflop raiser who continued for 3,700. Harwood called, Nathan called, and the turn was the {2-Diamonds}. Action checked to Harwood this time and she bet 12,600. Nathan folded, as did her other opponent, and Harwood took down the pot.

Sonny Franco Bulking Up

Niveau 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Sonny Franco
Sonny Franco

Sonny Franco was in the small blind facing a button raise from Damjan Radanov. Radanov made it 2,500 and Franco called.

The flop came {q-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and Franco check-called 3,200. The turn was the {9-Diamonds} and both players checked. The river was the {3-Clubs} and Franco led for 5,300. Radanov folded.

Franco has had limited success at the WSOP with just over $45,000 in WSOP earnings on seven cashes, but has a total of $672,147 total earnings, and might just be ready for a breakthrough here at the WSOP Main Event.

He currently has almost 400,000 chips and has been steadily building all day. He came into today with 160,000.

Kling and Koren on the Move

Niveau 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Lauren Kling raised to 2,200 from under the gun and the big blind called. On the {5-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop, both players checked and the big blind bet the {8-Diamonds} turn for 2,500. Kling called and the {A-Hearts} river was checked through. Kling tabled {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} for the winning hand and, right after, the table broke and everyone including Artur Koren was moved to the Amazon room.

Koren also confirmed that two-time WSOP bracelet winner Loren Klein was eliminated on their table previously.
