Pantaleo chipleader, 9 Français au Jour 2 du dernier tournoi au programme

Alors que la nuit de jeudi à vendredi a permis l'entrée dans l'argent sur le Main Event, un ultime tournoi WSOP se déroulait au Rio. L'occasion de faire une bonne action ausi puisque les participants peuvent prendre des jetons supplémentaires en donnant 111$ pour améliorer la qualité de l'eau et son accès dans les endroits lesplus défavorisés de la planète.

En parallèle de l'événement principal, la troisième journée de départ du Little One For One Drop à 1111$ l'entrée a donc livré son verdict. Avec 2484 participants lors du Jour 1C, l'affluence totale du 74e et dernier tournoi des Championnats du Monde 2017 a grimpé à 4 391 soit 31 entrées de plus que lors de l'édition précédente remportée par Michael Tureniec.

Après un Jour 1A où aucun Français ne s'était qualifié pour le Jour 2 qui aura lieu dans la nuit de vendredi à samedi, un Jour 1B qui avait vu le passage de 197 joueurs et de 4 tricolores [Ilan Boujenah (43000), Gilles Frère (90000), Jimmy Guerrero (42000) et Phillippe Ktorza (40000)], 470 joueurs ont franchi l'obstacle pour porter le total de survivants à 784 pour le Day 2.

Il y aura 9 Français au Jour 2 puisque 5 tricolores sont passés la nuit dernière : le chanteur Grégoire Boissenot (46000), Romain Lefebvre (38000), Jacques Guenni (19000), le Top Shark Winamax Aladin Reskallah(18000) et un Julien Sitbon très short (4700) puisque la reprise se fera sur les blindes 600-1200 (200) avec 784 joueurs pour 659 places payées (1500$ pour le min-cash et 528 316$ à la gagne, ndlr).

Le Jour 1C représentait la dernière chance pour de nombreux joueurs et ni Phil Hellmuth ni Bryn Kenney ou encore Ryan Laplante, Joe Hachem, Johnny Lodden, Ben Keeline, Ari Engel, William Kassouf, Mike Shariati, Nathalie Hof, Maurice Hawkins et Kitty Kuo n'ont su en profiter.

Si tout ce beau monde a échoué à se qualifier, Chris Ferguson (93 000) devrait atteindre tranquillement l'argent pour améliorer son record de places payées aux WSOP.

Daniel Negreanu a lui profité du re-entry illimité, il a passé sa frustration du Main Event en envoyant tapis sur ses 6 premières entrées avant de commencer à jouer et de finir avec 56 000 jetons.

Cory ‘BiNks’ Waaland, qui a publié une vidéo devenue virale sur la positivité et le fun qu'il faut chercher en jouant au poker plus tôt cet été
a ensaché 96,700 jetons tandis que JC Tran (25000), Joseph Cheong (80000) et Danny Wong mettaient l'ambiance à leur table pour oublier le tournoi principal. Wong a même écopé d'une pénalité pour un langage un peu trop direct, l'effet des nombreuses bières partagées.

Guiseppe Pantaleo est le patron du tournoi à l'issue des trois journées de départ. Il a terminé chipleader du Jour 1C avec 335,800 jetons. alors qu'Eric Wasserson (150,000), Jean Gaspard (169,300), Tony Dunst (102,600), Martin Jacobson (64,500) ont passé l'obstacle. Alex Foxen (186 000) et les Belges Eric Manderlier (264 800) et Pierre Neuville (166,000) se préparent un joli deep-run alors que PokerNews sera en direct du Rio pour vous faire vivre la fin du tournoi à partir de 23 heures...

World Series of "I Busted the Main Event"

"We're like seven off the money guys," JC Tran said. "Tighten up."

Tran was referring to the Main Event of course, not this tournament.

"Shut up man," Joseph Cheong said. "I don't wanna hear about that."

Cheong, Tran, and Danny Wong have been having some alcoholic beverages while playing in an effort to loosen up from busting the main event.

Cheong then opened from under the gun + 1 with a raise to 1,800.

"Let the record show that I folded this hand to Joseph Cheong's under the gun plus one raise," Wong said, flashing his behind him.

Action folded around to JC Tran who called from the small blind.

"Wow, it's the best player in the world," Wong said point to Tran. "Against the second best player in the world," Wong continued pointing to Cheong.

On the flop, Tran checked to Cheong who bet 1,500. Tran called.

"Oh my god, who has a king?" Wong said to no one in particular. "Who has a nine? Who has a king?"

The turn was the and Tran checked again. Cheong fired 4,000 and this time Tran folded. Despite all the fun the table seems to be having, Cheong and Tran have both still amassed big stacks here on day 1c. Wong on the other hand sits just a bit over starting stack.

Two of PokerNews' American circuit players to watch are seated just a few feet away from each other on adjacent tables.

Josh Reichard is seated on Miranda 631. We caught him in a recent pot with an opponent on a flop of . Reichard was first to act and he checked over to his one opponent. She bet 3,200 and Reichard called.

On the turn Reichard checked again and his opponent bet 5,000. Reichard released his hand.

"Whew," his opponent said. "I finally got there. Thanks for the chips."

"No problem," Reichard responded.

On the next table over, Johanssy Joseph raised from the button and took down the blinds, increasing his stack to just under 25,000. We'll be keeping a closer eye on these two players as the tournament goes one.

Michael Gagliano Loses a Massive Pot to Bust Before Break

With heaps of chips already in the middle of the table on a board of , Jeff Fielder bet 15,000.

Michael Gagliano was to his right and he moved all in for just about 25,000 more. Fielder sighed, leaned back and said, "As soon as I bet 15,000 I knew this was going to happen."

Eventually, Fielder settled on a call. Gagliano turned up for a set of sixes, but Fielder showed for a higher set of queens. Gagliano immediately realized his fate, stood up, wished everyone luck and exited the tournament area while Fielder became one of the tournament's chip leaders.

Prize Pool Information Announced

With a total of 4,391 entries, players created a prize pool of $3,951,900. The first-place prize for this event is a massive $528,316. Anyone who makes the nine-handed final table will receive at least $45,578, and anyone who manages to be a part of the top 659 players will earn a minimum of $1,500.

Of course, every player also had the option of donating $111 to the One Drop Foundation for and extra 5,000 chips, as well, so a great deal will be donated to a noble cause, although the final numbers on donations have not yet been released.

Ryan Riess Calls His Shot

As the reporters approached his table, Ryan Riess looked up and says, "Watch, I'm about to double up." The dealer was just finishing her riffle, and Riess added, "and It's going to be Jeff over here." Jeff Fielder ws sitting on Riess's immediate left, in the big blind as Riess was in the small blind.

The dealer pitched out all the cards, and action folded to Riess, who peeled back one card and moved all in for 6,550. Fielder, in the big blind, looked at his first one and said, "No good." He then looked at his second one and said, "I call."

Ryan Riess showed the one card he looked at, which was the , and Fielder showed . Riess then peeled back his other card, revealing the .

The board ran out , and as both players were having a good laugh, Riess got the double-up he predicted. If he wasn't such a talented and successful poker player, one would suggest he start a psychic network of sorts.

Negreanu Busts... Again; On To Buy-In #7

It only took Negreanu two hands to bust again. In the first hand, after the under-the-gun player folded, Negreanu shoved all in for 9,950.

"I think I have kings," Negreanu said. "I haven't looked yet."

Everyone folded, and Negreanu turned up his .

"Aww," he said. "I could've won." One player at the table said he folded a pair. "You folded a pair?! You should be ashamed of yourself."

The player who said he folded a pair then proceeded to take a selfie with Negreanu. "I hope you win many more bracelets," he said.

On the next hand, Negreanu shoved blind again, before he was even dealt cards, in fact.

"Okay, I definitely have kings this time," he said. As the entire table began to fold, Negreanu began to get antsy. "What the heck is going on here?!"

Eventually the big blind, Anson Tsang, called.

"I have kings, sorry," Negreanu said.

"Do you really?" Tsang asked.

"No! I haven't looked," Negreanu replied.

Tsang was holding , while Negreanu was dominated with . The board ran out , and that earned Tsang all of Negreanu's chips.

"Well, at least you called. Good job," Negreanu said on his way out. "Okay, on to lucky number seven!"

With that, Negreanu exited again and went back to the cage to re-enter once again.

Daniel Weinand Tells The Story of Negreanu's First(?) Bustout

Daniel Weinand was overheard telling the story of one of Negreanu's bustouts from the tournament, though it's not clear whether it was Negreanu's first or second bullet.

"He opened under the gun for 400," Weinand explained. "The hijack shoved all in. Then, either the cutoff or the button re-shoved. I was in the big blind with queens, and Negreanu called."

Negreanu was holding and was up against Weinand's as well as another pair of and a pair of , as well.

"He almost made a straight," Weinand explained. "And on the first hand, he shoved with ten-eight off-suit and doubled up against sixes!"

Negreanu has already rebought and taken a seat in the Pavilion Room, and it appears as if he's taking a relaxed approach to this tournament.

Negreanu Knows How to Make an Entrance

Daniel Negreanu just took his seat in the Miranda Room, announced, "Let's gamble," and got it in blind on the first hand.

A player in middle position raised to 500. Negreanu moved all in from the hijack for 9,975. The player in the big blind called, and the original raiser folded.

The flop was , and Negreanu paired up with a backdoor straight draw. He began shouting for a four as a huge crowd gathered around the table. The turn was the . Now the straight draw was open-ended, and Negreanu kept on calling out his cards while people were looking onward, recording and taping this fun moment. The dealer burned a card and flipped over the on the river, completing Negreanu's straight. He leapt into the air in excitement.

Several high-fives went around, and Negreanu was sure to capture some of the moment for his vlog. He stated, "How fun was that?! All for a good cause and charity."

He certainly is right. The charismatic Canadian and face of the poker world makes this game we love that much more enjoyable.

Pok Kim Shoves the Flop
