A Little Dent for Ari Engel

Niveau 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

There was a raise from early position to 400 that was called by three players, including Ari Engel from middle position.

The flop came down {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}, and action checked to Engel, who bet 650. He was called by Kaue De Souza, as well as the original raiser. All three players checked on the {K-Clubs} turn. On the {5-Hearts} river, action checked to De Souza. He bet 2,200 and was only called by the original raiser, as Engel folded.

De Souza showed {9-Hearts}{9-Spades} and that was good to take down the pot as the other player mucked.

Dong Takes One on the Flop

Niveau 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

After a raise to 250 from early position and a call, Guo Dong three bet it to 1,100 in the small blind. The original raiser folded, but the caller tagged along to see a {9-Hearts}{8-Spades}{7-Clubs} flop. Dong kept up the pressure with a bet of 1,500, and his opponent didn't take too long to fold.

Despite picking up that hand, it hasn't been a great start for Dong, who is down to 6,300 early on in this event.

Hawkins Gambles it Up

Niveau 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

Maurice Hawkins was in late position and had a bet of 1,075 in front of him. A player on the button moved all in for 5,675, and Hawkins was thinking about his decision when his opponent said something to him. Hawkins didn't hear what his opponent said, and when asked again, his opponent was dismissive. Hawkins then took another look and somewhat sarcastically said, "I don't like how you're holding your cards." and threw in a call. "This is a rebuy tournament." he stated.

Maurice Hawkins: {10-Spades}{6-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}

The board ran out {3-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades}, and with the rivered six, Hawkins made a pair and took it down.

One of poker's most entertaining faces, Phil Laak, has just joined the tournament, though he is not clad with the makeup disguise of an old man today.

Following Laak in the door was Men "The Master" Nguyen.

Braband Bets the Whole Way

Niveau 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

Tom Braband raised from under the gun, and he was called by the button and both blinds.

The flop came down {A-Clubs}{6-Spades}{2-Diamonds}, and it checked to Braband, who bet 325. Only the button tagged along to see the {3-Diamonds} hit the turn. Braband kept up the aggression with a bet of 900, and the button quickly called. The {9-Spades} hit the river, and Braband put out one more bet of 1,700. It looked like the button was going to quickly call again, as he immediately grabbed 2,000, but he paused, and then elected to fold after about 20 seconds of thinking.

Worst Table Draw in the House?

Niveau 2 : 50/100, 0 ante
William Kassouf
William Kassouf

If there's a table that you don't want to be at in Event #74: $1,111 Little One for One Drop, it's probably William Kassouf's table...

But it's probably not for the reason you're thinking.

Along with Kassouf sits a set of recognizable poker players, all of whom boast a list of impressive results. Take for example Sorel Mizzi, whose 42 World Series of Poker cashes surpass $1,000,000. Or Allyn Shulman, who holds a World Series of Poker gold bracelet, along with nearly $800,000 in WSOP earnings.

Perhaps the table can also be a good experience for players by playing with one of poker's biggest mouth's in the game, Kassouf, or author Maria Konnikova, who sits at the table as well.

William Kassouf recently faced off against one other player on a {A-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop. The player bet 200, and Kassouf called. The {2-Clubs} came on the turn.

"That's the money card," Kassouf said. "Uh oh, they're blogging this one, Alex. The boys are going to be watching you from Birmingham. They're gonna say, 'Why did you try to bluff Kassouf, man? You know he always has it?' I got you, man. I got the nuts. Don't bluff."

Kassouf's erratic talk eventually led to a check from the player he called Alex. Kassouf fired out 600, which was roughly a pot-sized bet, and Alex folded.

"It's good for the game," Kassouf said. "I'll show you one. I hit the deuce." Kassouf showed the {2-Hearts} and then began rambling about wanting Maria Konnikova to straddle. "I promise it will be live. No, get your mind out of the gutter, not straddle like that."

On an ace high board [Removed:171] got two streets of value with {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs} against an opponents {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs}. The river was checked down and Chung said, "Just in case, I won't bet. You're good at hitting rivers." her opponent responded with, "The streak is over now right." Chung is from north of the border on the west coast in British Columbia and has many results on her home soil. She is one to watch in the Miranda room.
