EPT Monte Carlo : Timothy Adams en tête, Aladin Reskallah et Remi Castaignon au Jour 4

Niveau 21 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Timothy Adams
Timothy Adams

Sammartino Goes Down Against Reskallah

Niveau 21 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Dario Sammartino
Dario Sammartino

Vlado Banicevic raised to 35,000 from middle position and Nicola Grieco called from the next seat. Dario Sammartino then moved all in for his last 508,000 and it folded to Aladin Reskallah in the big blind. Reskallah wanted confirmation of Sammartino's stack and then he moved all in himself for over 950,000.

The other players folded and Reskallah immediately opened up {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}. He was flipping against the {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} of Sammartino and the {a-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop was rather favorable for Reskallah.

Sammartino wasn't able to catch up on the {7-Spades} turn and {10-Spades} river. He busted out of the tournament in 31st place.

Razavi Snags Celestino on the River

Niveau 21 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Ariel Celestino
Ariel Celestino

Ariel Celestino raised to 32,000 from under the gun and Melika Razavi, who had just been moved to Celestino's left, made the call. The flop came down {j-Spades}{7-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and Celestino checked. Razavi bet 66,000, Celestino check-raised all in for 315,000 and Razavi called.

Ariel Celestino: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Melika Razavi: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

Celestino needed to fade the aces and jacks and did so on the {8-Clubs} turn. The dealer slowly burned and turned the river and revealed the {j-Diamonds} to give Razavi the winner against one of the top GPI ranked players of the year.

Melika Razavi

Gambling - and poker - are banned in Iran. Beauty pageants are banned in Iran. Magic is banned in Iran. So how did Iranian Melika Razavi become a poker-playing magician who participates in beauty contests?

We wondered the same and we caught up with her during a break of the EPT Monte Carlo €5,300 Main Event, where Razavi is battling it out late on Day 3.

“Coming from that culture and background, it’s a big step for me to actually represent women in magic and being a beauty queen; I’m also a motivational speaker.”

What happened? How did those short stacks effect play during the bubble? Heath explains that even if he has a big cash in Monte Carlo, he wont go crazy and jump into a €100K. Why? Sasha Salinger found out that he learned to manage his bankroll the hard way when he lost half his bankroll in four days at EPT Barcelona. Watch to find out more!

Zeitoun Crushed After Five-Bet Shoving Flop

Niveau 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Johann Zeitoun
Johann Zeitoun

In one of the final hands before the dinner break, Timothy Adams and Johann Zeitoun went to war at the feature table. It started off with Zeitoun raising from under the gun with {q-Spades}{q-Hearts} and Adams defending his big blind with {a-Clubs}{8-Hearts}.

The flop was {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} to improve Adams to trips and a huge lead in the hand. He checked, Zeitoun bet 20,000 and Adams check-raised to 61,000. Zeitoun clicked it back to 140,000, bringing it back to Adams. The Canadian high staker cut out a four-bet to 260,000, putting the decision back on Zeitoun.

The Frenchman decided to five-bet shove the flop for 834,000 and Adams instantly called it off for 747,000 total. Zeitoun got up from his chair to see neither {10-Clubs} turn nor {2-Hearts} river help his case. Adams soared up the leaderboard while Zeitoun was left with mere crumbs.

Shortly before the dinner break, the last PokerStars ambassador left in the field, Fatima Moreira de Melo, got eliminated from the Main Event. Folded around to the small blind, it was Aladin Reskallah who limped it in. Moreira de Melo shoved 214,000 from the big blind and Reskallah snap-called.

Fatima Moreira de Melo: {k-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Aladin Reskallah: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

Reskallah's plan had paid off and after the board ran out {k-Clubs}{q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{5-Hearts}, Moreira de Melo said her goodbyes. The former Olympian received €14,800 for her 44th place finish.

Melogno Splashes the Pot

Niveau 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Pablo Melogno
Pablo Melogno

The flop read {4-Hearts}{2-Spades}{3-Hearts} and Pablo Melogno was all-in and at risk from the hijack as Masato Yokosawa had him covered in the big blind.

Pablo Melogno: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Masato Yokosawa: {a-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}

Yokosawa had flopped a straight and only another five could save Melogno's tournament life right now.

The turn was the {8-Clubs} and the river completed the board with the {9-Clubs} to seal the deal. Melogno did not get up from his chair immediately.

Instead, he decided to flick his stack over the line in several stages, summoning his best Teddy KGB in Rounders impression, which seemed to confuse everyone at the table. About fifteen slow flicks later, he was done and got up from his chair to make his way to the payout desk, while the confusion at the table had turned into loud laughter.
