Ronny Kaiser Wins the 2017 PSC Barcelona High Roller

Markus Durnegger Eliminated in 2nd Place (€729,299)

Niveau 36 : 300,000/600,000, 100,000 ante
Markus Durnegger
Markus Durnegger

In the second blind flip with almost even stacks, Markus Durnegger turned over {J-Clubs}{5-Clubs} first and Ronny Kaiser sweated his cards. The {Q-Spades} caused some early celebration by his rail and the {A-Spades} that came along with it was also very welcomed.

The {10-Clubs}{7-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop changed nothing much, but Durnegger's rail cheered loudly when the {6-Clubs} turn gave the Austrian a ton of outs. However, it was Kaiser that would celebrate one card later as the blank {4-Hearts} river kept his hand in the lead.

Durnegger finishes in 2nd place and takes home €729,299 for his efforts, while Kaiser claims the trophy (for his girlfriend) and a payday of €735,000. A recap of today's action is to follow.

Niveau 29 : 60,000/120,000, 20,000 ante
Franz Ditz
Franz Ditz

Franz Ditz doubled soon after coming back from the dinner break when he open-shoved the small blind for 890,000 with {Q-Hearts}{5-Spades}. Ronny Kaiser called in the big blind with {A-Hearts}{9-Spades} and Ditz got there on the board of {K-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{6-Hearts}.

The next hand, Pollak raised first to act and Ditz moved in from the button. Pollak snap-called and the cards were tabled.

Franz Ditz: {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Benjamin Pollak: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}

The {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop provided a ten, but Ditz was still in need of running outs to stay in contention. It was all over after the {3-Hearts} turn, making the {10-Spades} river a formality.

Niveau 28 : 50,000/100,000, 15,000 ante
Georgios Sotiropoulos
Georgios Sotiropoulos

Georgios Sotiropoulos was first to act and raised to 215,000. Ronny Kaiser on the button was the only caller.

The flop came {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and Sotiropoulos bet 250,000, Kaiser called.

Sotiropoulos checked on the {J-Clubs} turn and called Kaiser's 575,000 bet.

With the {4-Spades} completing the board, Sotiropoulos checked again. Kaiser took his time before he shoved all in. Sotiropoulos wasn't too happy and used his 30 seconds before a time bank card was tossed in. He needed some more time but eventually reluctantly called.

"I got lucky," Kaiser said almost apologetic as he showed {10-Spades}{Q-Spades}.

Sotiropoulos wanted to muck but his cards were eventually turned over: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}.

Jakub Michalak
Jakub Michalak

Jakub Michalak was first to act and opened for 175,000. His opponent would once again be Markus Durnegger who, seated in the cutoff this time, 3-bet to 525,000. The action folded back to Michalak and he shoved for 2,240,000. Durnegger called.

Jakub Michalak: {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}
Markus Durnegger: {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}

The {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{9-Hearts} flop favored Durnegger. The {Q-Spades} on the turn and {3-Diamonds} on the river weren't cards Michalak was hoping for and he had to settle for 6th place.

Down to 5 players now, all guaranteed €284,700.

Emil Patel raised to 180,000 from the cutoff and Ronny Kaiser on the button three-bet to 530,000. Once the action was back on Patel, he four-bet to 1,250,000 and Kaiser moved all in. Patel called for around 3,800,000 and the cards were tabled.

Emil Patel: {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}
Ronny Kaiser: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}

Kaiser only had one over card and he got there right away on the flop of {A-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Diamonds}. The {10-Spades} turn didn't change anything at all, nor did the {10-Diamonds}, and Patel was eliminated in 7th place for €166,960.

"I only lost two all ins in this tournament. One was against a guy with one big blind and the other against someone with one and a half big blinds," Kaiser said to table neighbor Markus Durnegger. All remaining six players have €223,700 guaranteed.

The action folded to Luis Rodriguez Cruz in the small blind and he open shoved for 1,070,000 total. Markus Durnegger in the big blind asked for a count and called.

Luis Rodriguez Cruz: {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}
Markus Durnegger: {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

The flop came {3-Hearts}{7-Spades}{A-Spades}, giving Rodriguez Cruz just runner runner to hope for. With the {6-Spades} on the turn, his fate was sealed, no river card in the deck could help him. The {3-Spades} completed the board and Luis Rodriguez Cruz headed for the rail.

Quan Zhou raised to 120,000 and the action folded to Jakub Michalak in the big blind. "How much do you play?" Michalak asked and Zhou replied with a "Nine hundred." Michalak moved all in a few seconds later and Zhou called.

Quan Zhou: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}
Jakub Michalak: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}

The {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop improved Michalak to aces and kings, and the {2-Diamonds} turn and {6-Spades} river were of no help. The High Roller regular from China was eliminated in 9th place and takes home €91,300, while the remaining eight players have €115,600 locked up.

Ronny Kaiser opened the cutoff for 105,000 and big blind Oliver Weis 3-bet to 800,000 with about 100,000 behind. Kaiser shoved all in and Weis called after checking out the other table first.

Oliver Weis: {6-Hearts}{7-Hearts}
Ronny Kaiser: {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}

The flop came {3-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{J-Spades}, improving both their hands.

Kaiser let out a sigh but the {10-Clubs} on the turn paired the board and Weis was drawing dead. The {5-Spades} on the river was there just for good measures.
