Yunis Loses One

Niveau 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

The flop was reading {5-Spades}{a-Spades}{8-Hearts} and chips were already in the middle when Nick Yunis in the small blind and another player checked. The cutoff made a bet for 900 and only Yunis made the call.

The turn brought {q-Hearts} and Yunis check-called another bet, this time for 1,600. The river fell {6-Diamonds} and Yunis let it go after his opponent bet a third barrel for 2,500.

Simko Puzzles Burns

Niveau 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

Following the action coming to the flop, there was already around 20,000 in the middle when we arrived. Milan Simko first flatted an 800-raise in the hijack and then raised back to 9,500 after Kahle Burns squeezed to 4,000 in the small blind. Burns called and they checked the flop and turn of the {3-Spades}{10-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{10-Spades} board. Burns checked the river as well but Simko fired 11,000 on the last betting round, puzzling Burns.

Burns started mumbling as he was processing the hand, taking over three minutes to figure out what to do. In the end, he opted to fold and Simko claimed the pot without showing his hole cards.

Moneymaker Eliminated

Niveau 3 : 150/300, 25 ante
Chris Moneymaker
Chris Moneymaker

Chris Moneymaker's seat has been filled by another player. When we asked the players at the table what happened, they filled us in.

Apparently, Moneymaker — who found himself short-stacked under 15,000 recently — flopped a set of fives and was up against pocket tens. They got the money in on the flop and the 2003 Main Event champ was unfortunate enough to get hit with a {10-} on the river to send him to the rail.

The board had {5-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{7-Spades} showing, Huong Do checked to Bob Shao who bet 3,300 into a pot around 9,000. Do made the call and the river came the {7-Clubs}.

Action checked to Shao again, he put out a bet of 6,500 and Do made the call. Shao turned over {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} for queens up and Do then mucked her hand.

Small Pot for Boeree

Niveau 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

A player opened to 700 and it was called by Liv Boeree as well as the button and the big blind. The flop came {a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{j-Spades} and after action checked to her, Boeree bet 1,300. It was enough to win the pot without resistance.

Sands Tanks, Calls

Niveau 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

The board read {a-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}, David Sands led out for 900 into a pot around 1,500 and an opponent in the hijack raised to 2,300. Sands made the call and the river came the {a-Hearts}.

Sands checked to his opponent who bet 5,050 and Sands instantly asked the dealer to spread out the pot. He thought for several moments and then threw in the chips to call.

His opponent turned over {7-Hearts}{5-Spades} for nothing and Sands starting laughing as he showed {a-Spades}{2-Spades}. He said to his opponent,"You have some big kahunas" as he stacked up some chips with a wide smile on his face.

Barbato Eliminated With Aces

Niveau 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

Three players saw a flop of {2-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{4-Spades} appear. Antonio Barbato was first to act and checked. A player in middle position bet 2,500 and Rellie Sigua called to his direct left. Barbato check-raised to 9,000, the middle position player called after fifteen seconds and Sigua pitched his hand after nearly two minutes of thought.

The turn brought the {7-Spades} and after a brief pause, Barbato shoved for 20,575. His opponent snap-flung a single chip in to call.

Antonio Barbato: {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}
Opponent: {2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}

Barbato was already in a deep hole and tumbled even further when the {2-Diamonds} landed on the river to give his opponent quads. With that, his Main Event run ended halfway during the third level.

"You'd have had all my chips," Sigua said to Barbato as he made his way to the exit. "Two red kings," he said about his folded hand.
