Sinclair Flops a Straight

Niveau 6 : 300/600, 100 ante

Last year's Main Event 8th place finisher Jack Sinclair has been involved in the early action but currently sits with the same amount he started the day with after playing back-to-back pots.

In the first hand, Sinclair went to battle with Mathijs Jonkers. The pair took a friendly picture together for social media before play got underway but once the cards were in the air, it was all business.

The flop was down {4-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}, and Jonkers checked before the players stared at each other intently, and Sinclair bet 2,000. Jonkers made the call, and both players checked on {4-Hearts} turn. When the river came the {6-Diamonds}, Jonkers check-called a 3,000 bet from Sinclair, and the latter turned over {q-Spades}{9-Spades} for queen-high. Jonkers turned over {a-Clubs}{k-Spades} for ace-high and took the pot.

In the next hand, Sinclair was up against two opponents on a {j-Spades}{q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} flop and bet 2,500. One player called and the other folded as the turn came the {2-Clubs}. Sinclair's 4,000 bet was called, and on the {k-Hearts} river, Sinclair saw his 7,000 bet called.

Jack Sinclair: {9-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Opponent: {q-Spades}{j-Clubs}

Sinclair took the pot with a flopped straight that improved on the river and his opponent tabled queen-jack for two pair.

Kaverman Gets There on Hope Alone

Niveau 6 : 300/600, 100 ante
Byron Kaverman
Byron Kaverman

Tara Dunn opened with a raise to 1,200 and she was called by Anthony Biggers on the button and Byron Kaverman in the big blind.

The flop was {Q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{4-Spades} and Kaverman checked to Dunn who bet 2,000. The button folded while Kaverman called.

The turn was the {A-Hearts} and both players checked to see the {8-Clubs} on the river. There, Kaverman led out with a bet of 5,400 and Dunn called quickly.

Kaverman showed down his {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for two pair. Dunn flicked her cards then showed her {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}, a losing hand, so Kaverman took down the pot.

"What are you calling me with on the flop?" Dunn asked Kaverman after the hand. "Hope? Three outs?"

Kaverman responded with a wry smile.

Lau Blasts the River

Lau and his opponent (big blind) were in for 8,000 apiece on the turn and Lau paused to think about his bet-sizing on the final round. Then he threw in 25,000 and his opponent instantly folded.

Scatchard Dodges Diamonds

Niveau 6 : 300/600, 100 ante

On the flop of {5-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}, David Scatchard and Stephan Sieber threw all their chips in and raced for Scatchard's 34,100.

Scatchard was miles ahead with {7-Spades}{7-Hearts} but Sieber could still sink him should the fourth diamond appear as he held {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}. However, the {3-Hearts} turn and {2-Hearts} river were safe for Scatchard and he doubled up.
