Rusnak Leading a Field of First-Time Bracelet Hopefuls After Day 2 of Event #80 - $1,500 NLHE/PLO

Niveau 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Francis Rusnak
Francis Rusnak

Ten more levels have been completed in Event #80: $1,500 Mixed No-Limit Hold'em, Pot Limit Omaha and Day 2 is officially complete. A total of 340 players returned today from the 1,251 total entries and after the final hand, 47 survived to put their chips in a bag for the night.

Leading the way is Francis Rusnak who ended the day with 2,334,000 in chips. Rusnak entered the day with 99,300, just over the average stack of around 91,900. He eclipsed the one million-chip mark shortly before the last break of the night before nearly doubling that figure in the last two hours of play.

Second in chips is Gary Bolden (2,100,00), the only other person over two million chips. Next on the list is Jerry Odeen, who bagged 1,957,000. Those three are ahead of the field by a wide margin, with Dominique Mosley (1,530,000) and Adam Demersseman (1,249,000) rounding out the top five stacks.

The day started out as expected with eliminations coming at quite the pace. The field shrank to 188, the number required to reach the money shortly after the second break of the day when Juha Helppi busted Anthony Zinno with pocket kings against jack-ten in a round of No-Limit Hold’em.

Some other notables who made it into the money before being eliminated included Chris Moorman (187th place - $2,250), Darryll Fish (166th place - $2,260), Loren Klein (156th place - $2,308), Calvin Anderson (94th place - $2,928), Brian Hastings (93rd place - $2,928), and Mark Gregorich (80th place - $3,227).

Of the 49 players left, only four remain that have won a WSOP bracelet in their careers. Steve Sung (734,000), Ayaz Mahmood (531,000), David “ODB” Baker (515,000), and Ankush Mandavia (250,000) will all have their work cut out for them when chips come out of bags and play resumes.

Cards will be in the air on Day 3 at noon local time on Friday, July 12. Play is scheduled to occur until a winner has been crowned, but with 47 players left it is likely that the completion of another 10 levels will not be enough to crown that champion. Come back to PokerNews for updates on all the action as the tournament progresses.

According to Deeb, he opened {j-}{9-} and Anderson shoved his last five-or-so big blinds with {8-}{8-}.

The flop came {9-}{6-}{2-} to give Deeb a pair of nines. He added the turn and the river brought "two squirts of a water bottle," alluding to Anderson's "showering" some players when they busted yesterday in Day 1.

No-Limit Hold'em

Leif Force and Iori Yogo got all in prelfop, both in early position after Force had gone all in, putting Yogo to a decision for his tournament life. Eventually, he called and Force was somewhat surprised that the decision took him so long to make.

Leif Force: {q-Diamonds}{q-}
Iori Yogo: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

"Great," Force said as the dealer fanned the flop {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{10-Hearts}. The turn {5-Spades} fell as Force picked up his two queens, already ready to muck them. The {5-Diamonds} river allowed him to do just that as Yogo counted his stack to be paid for his double.
