Honeyman and Kelly No More

Niveau 5 : 250/500, 75 ante

Dylan Honeyman started well into Day 1a and quickly almost doubled his stack, but the seat that formerly belonged to the Australian is now empty while Ryan Hall dominates the action with a massive tower of chips.

One table over, a limped pot ended up with Matthew Kelly running out of chips. On a {q-Spades}{6-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop, Kelly shoved his last 9,000 with {Q-}{7-}, and Vincent Liu called in the big blind with the dominating {Q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}. Kelly picked up more outs on the {3-Hearts} turn with a gutshot straight draw, but the {5-Diamonds} river was a blank to eliminate Kelly.

Harald Sammer Takes from Qui Nguyen, Busts Another

Niveau 5 : 250/500, 75 ante

Harald Sammer opened for 1,100 in the hijack and saw the player on his left shove all in for 1,650. The small blind called, and Qui Nguyen made it 7,600 to go from the big blind. Sammer came back with a re-raise to 19,000. That forced a fold from the small blind, but Nguyen stuck around with a call.

Nguyen tanked awhile and then checked the {5-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop. Sammer bet 18,000, and Nguyen folded after some more thought.

Sammer: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}
Cutoff: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}

The board ran out {7-Clubs}{j-Spades}, keeping the aces best for Sammer and earning him the whole pot.

Qui Nguyen Gives Up on the River

Niveau 5 : 250/500, 75 ante

Qui Nguyen opened for a raise under the gun and got calls from both blinds. He continued for 2,300 on the {j-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop, and only the big blind called. That player check-called 6,500 on the {5-Diamonds} turn, and both players checked the {3-Diamonds} river.

Nguyen mucked upon being shown {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs}.

Chris George's Trips are Good

Chris George

With about 5,000 already in the middle and the board reading {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}{2-Clubs}{9-Spades}, Pierre Merlin bet 2,300 from middle position, and Chris George called from the button. The river brought the {J-Diamonds}, and both players checked.

Merlin tabled {A-}{Q-} for queens with an ace, but George flipped over {K-Hearts}{J-Clubs} for trip jacks to win the pot.

More Morten Mortensen

Niveau 5 : 250/500, 75 ante

A player in early position raised to 1,100, and Morten Mortensen three-bet to 3,500 on the button. His opponent called, and the flop came {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. Both players checked to the {8-Diamonds} on the turn. His opponent led out for 4,000, and Mortensen called. The river landed the {9-Hearts}, and his opponent bet 8,000 this time. Mortensen thought for a couple moments before calling.

Mortensen's opponent turned over {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for a missed flush draw, and Mortensen showed {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}. Mortensen took down another pot which he seems to be doing quite often as he closes in on the 200,000-chip mark.

George Chips Up Further; Despres Does Too

Niveau 5 : 250/500, 75 ante

Pierre Merlin raised to 1,200 and picked up three calls, including the button, Gregory Geller in the small blind, and Chris George in the big blind.

The flop fell {6-Clubs}{4-Spades}{2-Hearts}, and George bet 2,000. Only Merlin called. After the {6-Hearts} turn, George made it 4,500 to go, and Merlin called once more. After the {3-Diamonds} fell on the river, George bet 10,500, and Merlin reluctantly folded.

Simon Despres has also chipped up after being moved over to the Brasilia Room. Despres was seated next to big stack Michael Liang, who tried to get the Canadian hockey player off a hand. Ultimately, the duo checked the {J-Spades}{8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{J-Clubs} river with plenty of chips in the middle. Liang only had king-queen, while Despres claimed the pot with {A-Hearts}{3-Hearts}.

A Little Less Conversation For Presley

Niveau 5 : 250/500, 75 ante

Tony Presley was all in for about 11,500 before the flop and was in need of some luck. He was at risk with {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}, up against {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}.

The flop came {5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}, and Presley remained still and silent with no expression as he awaited his tournament fate. The turn was the {k-Diamonds}, and the river was the {4-Clubs}, giving Presley a boat to double up. He remained silent and showed no emotion as he raked in the pot.

Polk's Bluff Gets Called

Niveau 5 : 250/500, 75 ante
Doug Polk
Doug Polk

Doug Polk opened to 1,200 from middle position, Mike Matusow called from the hijack, and Darren Grant three-bet to 3,500 from the button. Polk four-bet to 8,300, Grant asked Polk how much he had to start the hand, which was about 40,000, and he called a few moments later.

The flop came {5-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Spades}, and both players checked. The turn brought the {4-Clubs}, and they checked again. The {2-Diamonds} fell on the river, and Polk bet 6,000. Grant quickly called.

Polk announced, "King-high," as he flipped over {K-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. Grant tabled {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts} for the wheel and took the pot.

Blockers Not a Problem for Sammer

Niveau 5 : 250/500, 75 ante

With the board reading {q-Hearts}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}, a player in early position bet 16,000 and received a call from an opponent in middle position. Harald Sammer called from the button, as well. The river was the {4-Hearts}. With two checks in front of him, Sammer announced he was all in.

"How much is it?" the turn bettor said with a frustrated sigh. "I call."

The third player mucked, and Sammer revealed {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds} for the nuts.

"I had two f***ing blockers," Sammer's opponent said, throwing {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} into the middle. "Can you believe I had two f***ing blockers?"

He sent Sammer 41,450.
